That is actually really cool that someone has a rebuild kit for the 284! If I didn't need the rest of the money I have for a downpayment on a house, I'd totally buy that, no questions asked!

I can tell you the gauges in these cars suck and they have the check gauges/low fuel light flicker or stays on, you must resolder a section on the back of the clusters board, i did it on my TGP and its been perfect since, w-body.com should have a write up...

LOL! Yup, the guy warned me that it happens, and it did...a lot! They eventually went out, but the "service engine soon" light came on as well...but went out after awhile. I just went to Advance Auto Parts and picked up a Haynes manual so I can start checking shit out this weekend.

Well if I had that money to blow on anything, that would be it! I'll probably take the car to my mechanic this early spring and let him look over the trans and see what kind of condition the internals are. Even though I have a parts car, something is wrong with that transmission in the blue car.
Anyways, I'll be posting up new pics this weekend sometime. I'm going down to my dad's house and taking the GP over to his friend's shop to do a full detail on it and see how good it cleans up. I really want to see how clean I can get the interior (I work at an upholstery shop, so the interior is a big deal to me), and find out what materials I can get matched up to the stock color so i can hopefully get some ordered to redo the seats.

I'm holding off on re-doing the seats...I need to get this thing running good! There's something wrong in the ignition, so I bought a new set of AC Delco plug wires (for $20 on eBay!) and 6 AC Delco Rapidfire plugs. I'm going to take it to my mechanic next weekend and have him look over absolutely EVERYTHING on the car and let me know what needs attention and what is still good. I'm also going to do a fuel filter and a new air filter.

Someone locally is selling an '89 GP for $1200. Its in good shape but still seems kinda pricey to me though. Only reason I'd want it would be to rip out the interior and put it in mine. Its got the quad buckets. I'm also going to do a fuel filter and a new air filter Replaced my airfilter a couple weeks ago. There was an entire acorn under the old one!

That was the biggest engine you could get in that year besides the 3.1 turbo, and apparently he/she didn't want the TGP option.
