Well Im going to be doing some engine work on the car, and just though Id ask what your opinions are on the port intakes. I was thinking just keep the 3100 intakes and get them P&P. I duno how much of a gain over that Id see with a 3100/3400large port and a 3400UIM. I duno if its worth it because I just want everything to bolt back up. I dont want any adapters or anything ( EGR )

So with that, Ill ask this: from the 60v6 store I can get a 3100/3400 large port, and a '96-'99 3400UIM. From that I can get a 62mmTB. Will all of this be a direct bolt up? My main concern is with the EGR. Im not sure if this will bolt up to that plenum or not.

Well... your only really gonna be able to gasket match them, unless you send them out to be extruned honed(BIG $$$), but the gains are noticeable.

IMO, swap to the newer style intakes.

Defiantly swap to the newer style intakes. 3400 intakes will bolt to your 94 3100 heads no prob. As for the egr, 60degreev6.com/store sells adapters for your 94 car to work with a newer style intake. 00+ plenums flow more than 96-99 3400 plenums by a little I think.

Your 94 egr won't fit in the newer topend. Adapter is required.

If you don't want to spend $$ on an egr adapter I believe u can get one for $5 bucks from gmpartsdirect.  Otherwise everything else is bolton.

Ben's intakes are proven by a flow bench to flow more than stock. Ben does a little more than a gasket match on his intakes.

Allright well heres what Im looking at for the list of the intake swap:

3100/3400 large port LIM
00+ 3400 plenum
65mm TB
'87-'95 EGR adapter to the 00+ plenum

Now all of these should pretty much be a bolt on and I *should* see some gains in the good ol ass dyno. But now that Ive figured that out, and that I cant use the fulcrum roller rockers, well I guess that should have to do

ok so instead of making a new topic... Ill bring this one back up.

and disreguard that that post cause Ive done some researching since then... But I still need help as Im still unsure of 1 thing... if I should get everything p&p'ed or just throw all the 3400 stuff on tehre stock. I wanna get '00+ 3400 heads, UIM, LIM, TB. I dont know how much more of a gain Ill see by going with p&p over stock... and especially with the heads as were talking big money to get those done. The intakes arnt a problem... but still.

any imput would be great!

not 100% true information there.

First of all, do you have a link to the EGR adapter on GMPARTSDIRECT?  I have NEVER seen on over there, much less one for only $5.00.

Second of all, you can't bolt the 3400 lower intake manifold onto the 1994-1995 3100 heads without modifying it first.  The STAMPED STEEL ROCKERS on the older 3100 will hit the lower intake manifold.  You either have to gound off some material so that lifters will clear, or swap the heads to the newer 3100, or 3400 ones with the roller fulcrum rockers.

The newer intake will give you a good boost in power.  I did it to my 1996 Grand Prix, and it was well worth it.

If you get the parts from Ben, then you will not have any big issues.  Just get the EGR adatper from Ben, unless the $5.00 one is a real one.  Then get that (I want to see it first before I say anything about it.

There is also 2 different types of adapters, so make sure you get the proper one.  One is the FLAT MOUNT (1996-1999 EGR), and the SIDE MOUNT (2000+ EGR).  Just be sure you get the proper one for the proper EGR.

No matter what year you get of the upper intake, then you will have to get a new EGR pipe.  The older 1993-1995 DIGITAL EGR pipe is different from the 1996 style.

Here are pics of the 2 different 3100 upper intake manifolds (LG8 large port).

This is the 1999 LG8 upper intake manifold

This is the 2000+ LG8 upper intake manifold with the EGR adapter

Ill be swaping the heads so the rocker issue wont really be an issue at all. But from looking on the 60*v6 store ( talking about heads ) would it be worth it to get the street/strip type porting or just the basic porting? I dont wanna spend all my money but if Im doing this I might as well while Im there ya know? I mean I was thinking just a basic port job with the 3500 vlaves...

but yeah Ill be getting the intake from Ben, along with the EGR adapter. They have two adapters one for '95-'99 and one for '00+. Ill be needing the one for '00+ cause that what the intake will be

Well Ive decided to scrap the idea of the intakes.... Ill be buying a new motor ( hopefully this week or within the month, Just need to fid one ) then Ill be overhauling that motor and building it. 3100MPFI might know about one thing being done to it from another place. Other than that its gonna take me a while to finish it. My goal is to have the motor in by next summer.
