Defiantly swap to the newer style intakes. 3400 intakes will bolt to your 94 3100 heads no prob. As for the egr, 60degreev6.com/store sells adapters for your 94 car to work with a newer style intake. 00+ plenums flow more than 96-99 3400 plenums by a little I think.
If you don't want to spend $$ on an egr adapter I believe u can get one for $5 bucks from gmpartsdirect. Otherwise everything else is bolton.
not 100% true information there.
First of all, do you have a link to the EGR adapter on GMPARTSDIRECT? I have NEVER seen on over there, much less one for only $5.00.
Second of all, you can't bolt the 3400 lower intake manifold onto the 1994-1995 3100 heads without modifying it first. The STAMPED STEEL ROCKERS on the older 3100 will hit the lower intake manifold. You either have to gound off some material so that lifters will clear, or swap the heads to the newer 3100, or 3400 ones with the roller fulcrum rockers.
The newer intake will give you a good boost in power. I did it to my 1996 Grand Prix, and it was well worth it.
If you get the parts from Ben, then you will not have any big issues. Just get the EGR adatper from Ben, unless the $5.00 one is a real one. Then get that (I want to see it first before I say anything about it.
There is also 2 different types of adapters, so make sure you get the proper one. One is the FLAT MOUNT (1996-1999 EGR), and the SIDE MOUNT (2000+ EGR). Just be sure you get the proper one for the proper EGR.
No matter what year you get of the upper intake, then you will have to get a new EGR pipe. The older 1993-1995 DIGITAL EGR pipe is different from the 1996 style.
Here are pics of the 2 different 3100 upper intake manifolds (LG8 large port).
