i want to get this done before i get to KAZ MotorSports for some tuning

http://turbosunleashed.com/shop/product_info.php?cPath=136&products_id=269

which will be installed here:

as you can see that is where my vacuum EGR used to mount.  i drilled out the EGR hole in the plenum and tapped it for 1/2" NPT, then added the brass plug (temporary).  once the TurbosUnleashed vacuum block gets here the brass plug will come out, and then a 1/2"-1/4" male-to-male NPT adapter will go in it's place so i can mount the vacuum block smile

the block will be mounted so it's parallel with the "neck" on the plenum so it should look pretty nice.  the vacuum block will eliminate all of the hard vaccum lines under the plenum and add a place to easily source my boost gauge.

the vacuum block will source:

- MAP sensor
- FPR
- cruise/HVAC circuit (they will share a port)
- boost gauge

my MBC will stay sourced from the turbo's compressor outlet and my BOV will stay sourced from the fitting on the plenum that is used for the transmission vacuum modulator (that fitting is obviously not used on my car).

actually, i'm really hoping i can order a slightly different vacuum block from TurbosUnleashed - one that has 3 outlets on the side instead of two (so 5 outlets total).  i want the 5th outlet to source a hobbs switch for an alky injection kit later on   i have a hunch TurbosUnleashed can get a block like that no problem which would be great.

i'll have to get some pics when i get it mounted.  hopefully i can get one anodized in black (or just bare aluminum) instead but i don't mind blue since my car is blue anyway.

Sweet!

I can't wait to see it. So is the whole point to just clean up the vacuum lines and I have one main block to run everything off of?

I'm assuming you took the plenum off to tap that plug?

yeah, and to add extra ports.

yup, don't need aluminum shavings going down into the combustion chamber!!!  after i drilled & tapped the plenum i cleaned it out with Brakleen and compressed air.

just ordered my vacuum distribution block!  i talked with the owner of TurbosUnleashed on the phone and the dimensions on the block are 2.75"L & .75" square.  it will fit pefectly.  he said he could probably get me a vacuum block with 3 outlets on the side but that would be from a different supplier, they don't have them in stock and it would likely be awhile before i'd get it.  besides, it might be too long to fit anyway.  this 4-port one i ordered will work fine since it will likely be awhile before i add alcohol injection later on.

he said it should be here in 3-4 days Priority Mail smile  after it gets here i'll be:

- removing the plenum and getting rid of the hard plastic lines under there.

- pick up my 1/2" NPT-to-1/4" NPT adapter from Ace Hardware i ordered

- install the vacuum block.

- use 90* 1/4" NPT-to-1/4" barbed hose fittings on each end of the block for the FPR & cruise control/HVAC sources.

- use a straight 1/4" NPT-to-1/4" barbed hose fitting on the long side of the block for the MAP sensor and then use a 1/4" NPT compression (nut & ferrell) fitting for the boost gauge's nylon line.

- i'm also transferring my boost & A/F gauges from my GTS back over to my Cutlass.  i'll get pics when i'm done (probably about a week from now)

should look pretty cool smile  it's only available in blue but i don't mind so much since my car is blue anyway.  i could always remove the anodized finish later if i don't like it.

woot just ordered a few more 'mods' for this week.  i just bought a new K&N RU-1770 air filter and a SS T-bolt clamp for the filter from ATPturbo.com.  definately needed to get this done before the tuning session.

got it in the mail today and thought i'd post a few pre-installation pics:

this is the block showing all fittings disassembled:

i temporarily threaded the fittings in for the sake of pics (they aren't tightened yet & no thread tape of course):

other side:

after i opened the box and looked at the block i was disappointed to see that only one end of the block had a port....however after a quick mockup on my car i found that it wouldn't matter anyway since there would have been no clearance (the fitting would have stuck out far enough to hit the plenum).  oh well, i'll just have to source the HVAC/cruise control from the current location (top of TB).  i also need to replace that 90* 1/8" NPT-to-1/4" hose barb fitting for a 90* 1/8" NPT-to-1/8" hose barb fitting (i didn't realize the FPR male vacuum port was that small).

i should have pics of it installed tomarrow cool  it'll definately look nicer than a big 'ol ugly vacuum EGR not to mention make the car easier to work on, more reliable, and provide a convenient place to source my boost/vacuum gauge.

well shit.  ran into some problems.  the FPR fiitting is actually 3/16" so after checking 3 different hardware stores i finally found the 3/16" 90* fitting i need.  so i got everything figured out now and i can mount it....but then i just got lazy so i'll do it tomarrow when i swap the guages over lol

my new K&N cone filter arrived from Summit today as well as my SS T-bolt clamp from ATPturbo.com....BUT :?  ATPTurbo.com sent me a 2.25" clamp (one size too small) even though my receipt says "2.5" clamp".  luckily my brother has an extra 2.5" SS T-bolt clamp he just sold me so i have it taken care of.  fwiw ATPturbo.com has messed up several of his orders in the past.

and according to my UPS tracking # from AFCO Racing, i should have my coilover adjuster nuts here tomarrow.  while i was at NAPA today i was checking out a cylinder hone for a variable speed drill (the type that has 3 rectangular spring loaded abrasive stones).  it says it could hone cylinders from 2" to either 5" or 7".  should work perfect for getting those sleeves honed out a little and the tool only cost $30.  i think i might have to pick that up tomarrow....so long as the stones are ok to use on aluminum and not iron only.

i got the vacuum block installed today and it looks great!  everything fit PERFECTLY.  right now i have vacuum caps on the nipples for the FPR and MAP sensor.  they'll probably stay capped until i get out to VA and have time to remove the plenum and remove the stock lines.  i'd take pics of the block and post them tonight but i want to wait until i have my boost gauge line running to it (i'm transfering my gauges over tomarrow).  i also cleaned the hell out of the engine bay and installed my new K&N filter - the engine looks freaking brand new if i do say so myself biggrin

my AFCO Racing coilover adjuster nuts showed up tonight too!

i'll definately post lots of pics tomarrow of the engine bay and the whole car now that it's actually somewhat clean again.

got it all installed today.  the nipples for the FRP & MAP sensor will stay capped & zip-tied until i have time to remove the plenum and take out the stock vacuum lines.  as you can see from the last pic, the 3/16" vacuum line for the FPR will go under the plenum neck (probaby be about 10" long).  as for the HVAC/cruise control vacuum source, i plan on just running it over towards the vacuum block and attatching it there so i'll have NO vacuum lines under the plenum.
