How bad would it be to swap the 3400 LIM and UIM and TB on my 3.1? Any custom work needed? chip? tuning?

3.1 MPFI, or 3100 SFI?

To do it on the 3.1 MPFI, you will have to swap the heads, exhaust manifolds, exhaust downpipe, and some of the coolant lines.  You will also have to swap the alternator brackets, but you can use your stock wiring.

Also, you have to do some modification to the wiring, and will have to have a custom chip to run it the correct way.

If you have a 3100 SFI, then it is pretty straight forward, for the 1996 and newer.  For the 1993-1995 3100 SFI, you have to do some clearance issues for the rockers.  They will hit the lower intake manifold.

so really not much custom work just need the parts?
another question. Are any parts from the rwd camaro 3.1 useable to any gain on a fwd 3.1?

The camaro 3.1 is a GEN 1.  That would be like replacing your GEN2 3.1 with a GEN1 3.1

Swapping in a 3100 or 3400 is easier.  It is the RUNNING IT part that is more difficult.

The Camaro 3.1 is an IRON HEAD, so you would have to use the 3.1 camaro heads as well.

If you are going to do that, as well as that much customization to get it in there, then you might as well do the 3100 swap.  The 3100 heads flow a lot better than the Camaro one.

As far as the ammount of work goes, they are about the same.  For that much work, then you might as well do the 3100/3400 swap.  Same ammount of work, and better gains from it.
