shitty vid but here is what it's doing:

http://www.turbosedan.com/cutlass/engine/cutlassproblem.MPG

here are some underbody pics i took while the tank was out.  the only rust i coud find was on the exhaust (from my old Turbo STE of course) and the trailing arms.  i was just going to get GMPP tubular trailing arms because they are so cheap.  NO rust anywhere else.

those are the fuel tank straps - as you can see no rust above the fuel tank:

thanks to Kenny and Jeff suggesting the P/N safety switch, i went out and wiggled the P/N safety switch splice i made and that "fixed" the problem biggrin  here is what it revs like now:

http://www.turbosedan.com/cutlass/engine/cutlassproblemfixed.MPG

man i love that TurboXS RFL

it's not really fixed yet, but it will be tomarrow after i redo the splice.  some water must have gotten into the heat shrink tubing or something when i was powerwashing the driver's side wheel well.

so it wasn't even the fuel pump after all, but i definately feel much better knowing the Walbro 255 is in there now.

well it's still running out of gas when the gauge reads 1/4 tank :?  i really think the problem is the sending unit since a few days after the swap the guage actually read 1/8 tank with the low fuel light on for the first time in like 5 years.  i think the contacts in the sending unit that are where the gauge would be at less then 1/4 tank are just dirty (if that makes any sense).

i was thinking of dumping a can of Seafoam in the tank to attempt to clean the sending unit contacts, is that a bad idea?  i did actually spray down the sending unit with some Brakleen, so maybe that's why it started sort of working again?  or it could have been from me removing that broken piece of tank baffling that the sending unit was sitting on?  hrmmm...

so should i try the Seafoam thing or just order a new sendig unit?  ugh....they're expensive sad

Or you could try xylene and tolune(sp?) mix like I used for race gas that one time.  That'll clean shit out real good.
