Kinda like that Camaro owner with the modded LS1 who tried to do a burnout and had his flywheel shatter under WOT.

more valves = more power.
Yea more power, but wheres that power at because of it. The powerband is shifted higher into the RPM band. Making town driving seem lethargic in many cars. Highway is terrific on the other hand. Pushrod engines feel done abit before 5000 rpms. I usually have to modulate my foot to keep it in the sweet spot and upshifts just right for fastest acceleration. If i just floor it and let it hit redline to redline, it would take way longer to get to 60, lol. I can get it done in much less in my 6000, which aint bad it pulls ya back , lol.

Sounds like you need to do some tuning. If you're getting to 60 mph slower under WOT than you are under a "sweet spot," there's either something wrong with your engine, or you've modified it to the point where you need to adjust your shift points. A car shouldn't be slower under part throttle than under full throttle.

shift points are the culprit here... example being a 90GP with a 4t60: if the TV cable has been adjusted correctly, it spins up WAY too high before upshifting at WOT. play with the cable enough and you can get it to shift at the perfect RPM... until the cable stretches slightly and you get to do it all over again. i love the 60e for that reason, none of the barbaric TV stuff.

more valves = more power. Dodge diesels can outpreform ANY other 3/4 or 1 ton diesel
24 cummins suck, too much electronic shit, and ive seen 12v 5.9's make just as much power, and more torque

Ill put my money on gm, more specificly these gm's
the 2nd one the pete has the win by 5 tenth. rule of thumb 1 tenth = 100hp mustang 4000 ish lbs , 300 hp for a gt 3valve 359 series twin screw pete 17k+ lbs, 1000hp detroit 12v71 aka the dirty dozen yes 3.33 times the power, but 4.25ish times more weight. so its a fair fight

Like I said, it only has to happen once, possibly with a guy who has a 300k mile truck. Not something that would stop me from buying one, but I'm just saying. I personally would still own a duramax diesel.

ever heard of a commercial truck runnin a duramax? how about a power stroke? me either. ive seen some Cummins motors in em though. shit any of you guys know what company owns the Cummins name by chance?
Post Merge: February 25, 2010, 09:15:42 AM LOL anyone buying chevs right now needs to get their head checked. of all the diesels straight from the factory, the Duramax is the slowest, weakest motor, followed up with fords powerstroke and leading the pack for the three is dodge. even modded with cold air boxes, tuners and exhaust the fords and chevs cant touch a stock dodge.
"the only reason i bought my chevy is because i can return it" -ever seen that commercial? hahaha what a slogan for losers.

Cummins Inc is the name of the company. They are based in Indiana. The new Duramax is supposed to be pretty badass with more power and tq but the numbers havent been released yet so we shall see.

look into who owns the rights to the name. someone special has rights to that one. its like Landrover. thats a brand name owned by a parent company. the new duramax is supposed to be.... you just said it all. what about all the years of duramax available to the public? this new un tested motor is supposed to be good eh? so were the new toyota gas pedals. tried tested designs that stand the test of time are what intrest me. not a new concept.
