stock? yes. that's what it was intended to be: move people/cars at a rate fast enough to get out of it's own way... with either a nice lumpy cam or a blower, it becomes a different animal altogether...

MAYBE in a go-cart, or lawnmower, or something that's designed for only 17HP You know, I certainly wouldn't mind a 3.1 powered go-cart. Then again, I'd rather have a Quad4 in a go-cart. Then again, I should build one myself! If only I had the time.

160 horse isnt that bad. It moved the smaller cars nicley. And was an acceptable base engine in larger cars. Berettas, Corsicas, Cieras, Centurys. They should have kept the V6 option on the Jbody cars too. There werent really any sub compacts with V6 option except Caviler/Sunbird.

I honestly like my 3100. It has enough balls to pull out into busy traffic. When you go to this from driving a 90 horse I4 powered Skyhawk, and a tired V8 van with u joint problems, its like a freakin race car. But that doesn't mean I don't want more.

I personally HATE the powerband of DOHC vehicles, its not a advantage to me. I like cars with low end grunt and effortlessly get up to speed without RPMs. Not some gutless feeling turd that needs to be wrapped out to 6 grand to get it to go anywhere. Thus the reason i cannot stand 4 cylinder cars....

x2 pm that. I too cannot stand driving 4 cylinder cars. I like being able to put my foot down and have the car launch forward. There's no replacement for displacement.

more valves = more power. Dodge diesels can outpreform ANY other 3/4 or 1 ton diesel

They can also cut through the sheet metal in your car if one of those fuel lines bursts.
