just wait for the vid... im a little hung over and not sure how to explain any better that @ 40kmh if i shift between d and od i get RPM variances. straight line.... no throttle change. just cruising at the same speed. and i also notice D seems to be a little quicker (as when i am in it, at any speed, my engine is revving atleast 200rpm higher than in OD) the faster i go obviously the more it revs up (100kmh is like 3k rpm in D i think but around 1800 in OD but 40kmh is maybe 2000rpm in D where it is 1800rpm in OD) maybe my tranny slips in D? hahaha i dont know. ill show ya the vid im about to make it now. maybe if the sound is good i get one of the exhaust too for anyone who is curious what MAGNAFLOWS sound like. lol

Yea thats how it is, D would be a lower gear and higher Revs, OD is 4th which would be lower revs, im not sure what your getting at now. Lets think of this differently. OVERDRIVE mean that the gear is over drivin, oposite of gear reduction. So overdrive is just fancy for 4th Gear, you going from D or 3rd gear, to 4th would yes change rpms, and being electronic could be very different than us with the Vacuum controlled trans. The Torque converter lockup is easy to think as a shift, touching the brakes will even unlock the TCC and raise RPMs a few hundred.

BUT if OD shouldnt kick in till 70kmh, why is 4th operating at 40kmh then?and in D you said that it shouldnt even hit 4th?

well in any event i think we seem to be agreeing that D is good for city and OD for higher speed driving? -anyone not agree with that? get the fuck out of here. lol jk, just go away.

I need to fix my 93 LQ1... and then test drive it.

Here is what I am hearing but am unable to confirm at this time:  Operating your car in D has a different shift point set than operating in OD.

Maybe different line pressures in the different ranges? I know 1 and 2 have higher line pressure, maybe OD has the lowest line pressure
