Thanks for the info.

What I need to find out is who, what, where, when, why, and how the Park/Lock cable is run.  The Impala has the dash-mounted ignition switch, and I'm not sure if the cable is run to the switch itself, or if it's connected to a solenoid or what.  I also want to find a steering wheel/airbag assembly (with SWC's, of course) from another GM that will be compatible with the Impy, 'cause I can't stand those huge spokes on the stock wheel.  I'm hoping the airbag on the 06-07 Impy is compatible, 'cause I really like that wheel.

I was already planning on swapping the cluster, but for a different reason:  I want to add a tach!  BTW, the Impy does have the LED gear indicator.

I'm gonna be spending alot of time in the boneyards when I undertake this project, that's for sure!!!

The older cars have a park/lock cable, but when I bought the 2000 Grand Prix center console, the shifter does NOT have the cable.  It is a big thing that is attached to the shifter.  I asked the people over at clubGP for the wiring diagram so that I could install that shifter into my 1995 Cutlass Supreme (so that the PRNDL will work right), and they said that there is not a performace gain from installing the newer shifter into the older car, so don't bother.

needless to say, I got pissed off, and let them know it.
