Ok, so my problem stated last night, or rather didnt start.
i was driving down our freeway here in town, and just as i started to take the exit i could feel my car losing power. after making the turn on the street off of the free way it was like the throttle cable was cut, i would tap the gas and it wouldnt move, so i tried to push it harder and it almost died. i used whatever engine power was pushing the car to get it into the closest parking lot, while sitting there i felt the call of nature, and ran behind the building i was emergency stopped at (this is after trying to start it again a few times) then came back and voila it starts. so i then drop off my guest, drive the same way back home and have no problems, till today
i went to the local junkyard to shop around, left and was driving as a SLOW pace and not pusing anything at all (60km/h top) all of a sudden the same thing happened, but alot faster. it just died and i had to coast it into a parking lot. used a hair pin to check the engine code and got Code 35, something to do with the IAC. i then got the one off of my old motor and put it in, being brand new looking compared to the other one that had 1/8" of grime and crap on it.
it sounded like it was going to start, but still. nothing. it keeps cranking like its getting no spark, i know the fuel rail has pressure, i dont know if its 100% what it should be.

anyone have any ideas?

i came up with an idea...
when the mechanic swapped the motors he had to take the plenum off of both of them to get the wiring harness's swapped too as the place i got the motor from just cut the one on that motor. im thinking he didnt put the gasket in there properly, theres a good amount of oil that was leaking off of my engine, and it seems to be off of the whole block.  does oil run through the plenum? i think its getting on the plugs.

car is at mechanics.

maybe we should move this over to the "for sale" column. i friggin hate the problems this car gives me already, and if this is any foresight into the future of what this car is going to provide for me, then ill have nothing to do with another LQ1 in my life.
screw the whole motor to hell. i miss my 3800!!! i dont like how the power is on this motor, i dont like my lack of torque, and i miss how the buick would just GO when i tapped the gas.

so, my oppinion, formed in the two days i got to drive my lumina... well first ill go with what i liked about the motor
higher redline, and it WANTS to go there
the sound of it when it was revved up while driving
it looks badass
now for what i dont like
no low end power (maybe out of tune? i dunno)
its got no room to work on in there at all!
this one freakin died on me in two days! (not being driven like a pee hole either)
but for the car itself, i like being seen in the lumina more than i did in the regal when it was all nice n pretty. people stare at my lumina sometimes. its kind of creepy, and they always give me a thumbs up.

anyone interested in buying my "Red Nightmare" let me know. i live in Edmonton Alberta Canada.

one motor swap for this car is already too much for me. if you wanna buy it let me know... lol as soon as the mechanic gets it running again (if its some sort of NEW problem that isnt related to the swap) then its for sale.

ok, so i got my car back from the mechanics, and they dont have a f'in clue what the f'in f is wrong with my f'in piece of shat.
they got it to start, and continue to run. by unplugging three fuel injectors. he said its getting too much fuel and wont start because of it, he thinks its because of some sort of temp sensor that might not be reading right, telling the car to send more gas to the engine because it thinks its like -47C out or something like that -the temp gage on the dash works just fine.
another guy there (apprentice) said he had the same prob with his olds (not a 3.4) and that all he changed was his fuel filter. ?!? TOO MUCH FUEL !?! the oil leak they say is comming from some shaft that would be there to control a distributor on older engines. but that its got a stubby go nowhere shaft in there and its capped off, but he says the cap is leaking....
i f'in hate this care more than anything ive ever encountered in life.
so, if anyone here has any ideas or input, i would love you for life.
ANY HELP PLEASE!!!!

lol unfortunately no.... its a great idea though. i do have theft!! hahahaha
and i found out it runs on 5 fuel injectors. and actually gets enough power to generate vacuum pressure so i have breaks and it can go over 50kmh now!!

does anyone know anything about fuel injection here? could this be because the fuel rail isnt getting enough pressure to provide enough fuel to make the 6 injectors work all together (takes too much pressure) and with one or more unplugged it can keep up?   -Fuel filter or pump?

Check your fuel pressure regulator to see how much you have at the rial. Maybe the regulator is bad and it's letting too much pressure hit the injectors.

i have discovered something... its got to be my front drivers side injector. i can have it run with either of the other two front ones plugged in or unplugged. but as soon as i connect the other one (with or without the other two fronts connected) then it dies. so tomorrow i will try replacing that injector and hope that it fixes my problems. if not, fuel pressure regulator is next

Ok uh, settle down and fix the fuckin thing, its a nearly 20 years old with unknown history. Its common for the temp sender for teh ecu (yes its completly seperate form the sensor for the gauge) will make the car run complelty awful, and possibly not start. Also Fuel pressure regluator like thier saying. yes too much fuel is a bad thing.......sheesh give it to me, ill take care of it for you, heheh....

sensor is located on the rear cylinder head usually, pull the wire, if the gauge still works obviously you found your temp sensor.

I <3 my Lumina Z34. this thing is awesome!! haha i got the fuel injector changed and discovered the vacuum line for the fuel pressure regulator being pinched off between the valve cover and the plenum. fixed that and replaced my injector in just over an hour (really really really looked things over while it was apart too) plus i think i took about 3 or 4 second looks to make sure i hooked it all up right.
now that its runnin on all six it sounds awesome and it goes pretty good too! its no all out 9 second race car or nuthin but for a 1991 Lumina, it moves better than i thought it would.
she impresses me now. hahaha
all thats left to fix (other than some minor body stuff and interior stuff) is the oil pump drive shaft leak (i was also told this is where a distributor would be connected if it was an older motor) so looks like next weekend i get to tear it all apart again!

the good news from today? i didnt break ANY skin!!! haha no blood lost, and my first time pullin a plenum on these things an im rollin out of the garage again in less than 90 mins!  i think it took me like an hour and 15 or something like that. but it was pretty easy.
