Thick and greasy? Sounds like a bad head gasket. Did he bleed all that air out of the system? It's a real PITA to do it properly. Have him drill a 1/8" or 2 1/16" holes in the ring of thermostat to get the fluid circulating and help release trapped air under it. I got that advice from someone on here a few years back. I've done it to every vehicle I won and never had air pocket issues again.

Its about as hard to bleed as my LQ1 was, I find just a bunch of small sudden surges with the throttle, combined with a burping funnel works great if the head gasket is gone wouldn't there be oil in the coolant?

Head gasket would mean oil in the coolant.
My LQ1 was so easy to bleed. I had to put in a new radiator and installed that bled it out and I was good to go.

Post Merge: June 18, 2011, 06:21:08 PM So far its about as hard as I thought it was going to be. I have intake and exhaust removed, ac compressor lowered and both valve covers off. Now its time to take a brake... 6 hours later. Haha

on the rear head, there is a sensor. located somewhat close to the breake booster... its similar to an oxygen sensor, like it only has one wire coming off of it, its green. and plugs into a harness about 6" away... anyone know what this is? i broke it. hahaha
Post Merge: June 19, 2011, 05:39:57 PM it is a coolant temp sensor and apparantly nobody carries it in stock, wtf... why does gm need two sensors for one thing to be sent to two locations?? copy paste you idiots!! just like you did with your vehicle lineup!

Well I hear its for the temp gauge on the dash, which would be a good thing to have working after a headgasket replacement.
