I got a good deal on 94 rebuilt 3.4 DOHC. My car is a 92 Z34 with the MPFI.
What will it take to swap the fuel injection system over tot he sequential type?

Harness, injectors, ECU ??? Worth the trouble?

Thanks

is it a FULLY rebuilt 3.4 DOHC? And yes, you'll need the harness, ECM, everything, it's up to you and the deal you could get on everything as well as your determination/mechanical aptitude...some would say it's a worthy swap, for a daily i'd rather keep the 3.1 MPFI in there, much easier to work on ;-)

i assume you're trying to put the 94 motor in the 92 Z? so are you trying to keep the SFI functions or use it as a MPFI motor? if you want to keep the SFI, you'll need the entire engine harness, PCM and if you want it, the cruise control module... that's about it. if you want to keep a MPFI motor, then you just need to drop the motor in and hook up the existing harness, except for you'll need to remove the MAF and hook up a MAP sensor.

for a daily i'd rather keep the 3.1 MPFI in there, much easier to work on ;-)

all Z34s already had LQ1s....

@RobertISaar
Thanks for getting back to me.  I know little about the significance of the two different fuel injection systems.
It appears that there is little difference in HP. Maybe it makes a difference at low speeds with emissions.
Form what you say the  switch over is easier than I expected.
My Z-34 is now a 3rd car so I can experiment a little and still have a ride to work.

SFI is ALL emissions related. i have great idle stability with batch-fire, so that myth is BS IMO. i also saw no kind of fuel economy drop between the two either.

but yes, since you have to pull the motor anyway, the harness has to come out(well, it should, much less chance of killing wires), so it's pretty much not even adding extra time. i'd have to look at the C100 connector so see what all was different there, but i don't remember it being much.

ahh, question:

there were slight trans differences from 91-93 and 94-95, don't suppose you got a deal on one of those?

You know, ironically that is the car I sent you to look for in east Austin when you first moved here.

yep i know exactly which yard it's at...hopefully they have it for at least a few more weeks! had it for over a year...my concern is that they don't crush it..they tend to do it quite often over there with cars over 12 years or so of age! And ya that's the one!

I would just like to locate a dead Z-34 to get the SFI stuff for my car.

I think - I just glanced at it because it had a 3.4 - Capitol City had a 1996 Z34 that was pretty complete.

And their prices came down since they became a u-pull-it yard, they aren't dicks anymore either.

Harold's up in Lampasas has a few Z34 Luminas every time i've been there too.

East End in Del Valle had a black Z34 Lumina...

oh man are they really!? Awesome! Yea CC Were DOUCHES! Glad they changed! There are a handful of U-pull-its up here Jay, let me know if you ever wanna come check one out, they have great pricing, i got a few panels and support pieces for the TGP (off a regular 91-93B4U) and a DIC for like $15, one in killeen and one between here and waco i saw an advertisement for the other day that's supposed to be huge. i haven't been to the lampasas one since you and I went either. I'm determined to go to one of the local ones for the 96 since it needs panels now after the ball joint/douchebag hit and run, so let me know if you can't make it and need anything I'll pick up whatever and send to ya
