so...how hard is it and where is it located? smile

the heater in my GS just doesn't get hot.  it gets warm but that's about it.  this morning i compared the heaters in both my Cutlass and my Regal and there is a huge difference.  i ran the Regal for 10-15 minutes until the temp gauge was 3/8 of the way up (usually about the highest the gauge goes) and the heater was only warm.  i could easily hold my fingers inside the floor heater vents.  i then ran my Cutlass for 10-15 minutes and while the gauge only got up to 5/16 of the way up (the gauge usually gets up to 7/16 of the way up when driving around), the heater was HOT, as in it would burn the tops of my fingernails if i held my fingers inside the heater vents.

due to the coolant looking so shitty in my Regal yesterday when i replaced the thermostat i think the heater core is probably corroded inside.  the engine seems to be getting up to the proper coolant temp varified by Dan's LS1M scanner, but the heater itself sucks.  am i on the right track?  fwiw it's not leaking at all.  i'm hoping replacing a heater core on a  2nd GEN is easier than a 1st GEN W-body....

TIA

if its not leaking just back flush some water through it and see if the heat situation improves.  Also its nearly spring so you wont have to worry too much about freezing, hopefully.
