Yeah it set the record for fastest production car.  But then the ACR Viper came and did a bunch of runs, with better tires, adjusted a bunch of stuff, and beat that time by 2seconds..  roll   I think I read that the Enzo beat the record again.  But hell, once there are more ZR1s for rich people to buy I think we'll see some smashing records again.

On a side note- The CTS-V (same engine, but only 550hp) set the record for fastest sedan.  Take that BMW/Mercedes!!! hahaha hellz yeah!

While that's impressive (especially for it's day) it still doesn't hold a candle to the 2009 CTS-V.  (I'm sure it's probably quicker than the older 400hp CTS-V though).   The 2009 i've heard does 0-60 in 3.9 seconds!!!

That record time set by the CTS-V at Nurburgring was done with a AUTOMATIC too!

I'm just a huge [2008+] CTS fan.  Had one for my wedding, drove them around when I worked at the GM dealership, they are just such a nice car.  Makes my Impala feel like a un-refined rubbery driving piece of junk.. lol  I hope in 5-10years time I can afford a 2008 style but just with the V6.

My boss has an '07 CTS-V...He let us use it for a weekend and he's done a few mods to it.

The ride was too harsh and it felt as cheap as my '94 Cutlass. Overall, I wasn't impressed.

<- is not very impressed by anything with a cadillac badge... im not such a fan of north american luxury. we just use too much plastic and cheap shit to me... japanese ones too though, i cant tell the diff between an EL and a civic of the same year... they feel the same, one just has less cheap plasti-wood. which is what seems do define our luxury cars here aswell. they take a Ford F-150, put a new grille, tail gate, and tail lights on it, add some fake wood, mark it up 10 grand and throw a lincoln Mark LT badge on it. yay
i like the older american cars WAY better. they FELT like they had class. nice cushey seats, big heavy doors... nothing about them felt cheap. shit chrome was chrome plated metal. not sprayed plastic.

i guess what im tryin to say is that the badge on the grill doesnt mean anything

I've driven a 05 CTS-V, it was fun with the big V8, but I agree very harsh.  While the old CTS isn't my favorite car by any means, I think they still handle quite well.  The 2008 redesign was a definate improvement, and worthy of Motortrend car of the year.

The 2009 CTS-V isn't just a regular CTS with a V8 bigger wheels and bigger breaks like the old CTS-V was, it's got magnetic ride control and some other fancy technology from the ZR-1.  To set records at Nurburgring it's gotta be a pretty good machine.

SofaKingWeToddDid:  I agree with your comment about Lincolns!  I hate those LTs!!   They are just slow ass piece of shit F150s with chrome and woodgrain added.  I'd rather have the King Ranch edition! (If I HAD to buy a Ford).  The Lincoln MKS is built on the same line as the 500/Taurus, and the MKZ the same as the Fusion (or so I understand).  Lincoln is a fricken joke, at least Cadillac is their own entity (except for the Escalade- same thing as a Yukon).

ya u got it right with the lincolns/fords... but over the king ranch i would pick the Chip Foose. Sittin at 450hp with a supercharger under the hood is pretty sweet in my mind. but i really dont like the feel of the new f150s (since the new body style came about) they feel WAY too cheap inside. F250 or 350 is the way to go, then get the harley davidson edition. biggrin weee doggy those things are nice.

At work we had a newer style F-250 Harley Davidson.  Big MF'n truck!  We currently have a 2004? (older style) F-150 Harley Davidson supersharged 5.4, that sucker moves pretty good.. probably my most favorite Ford truck that I've come across (haven't had any experience with the Foose truck).  I like the interiors of the Harley trucks (except for all the HD badges everywhere.. not my thing).

I dunno, I've driven the F-250 and F-350 diesels and they are slow compared to the Dodge cummins turbo diesel.  Those things really fly for a big truck.  Of course I'd still take a Chevy/GMC 6.6T diesel. cool

the thing about the new fords is the lack of the turbo lag... yes they have two, BUT one being alot smaller and one is larger. the smaller one picks up boost first, then the second one spools up just before the smaller one is not producing enough boost. SOOOO with the one smaller turbo and one bigger one i think they loose some power. if they just slapped two monster sized turbos on there and had some boost lag... shit why not? that thing would pull a house down.

another thing about the newer trucks, i doubt i would buy a chev or a ford for a tow beast. the integrated brake controller isnt cappable of handling more than 2 axles, and it cant cover ANYTHING other than electric trailer brakes, so no hydraulic brakes for your trailer with ur new Ford Superduty hauling beast.

BUT i would still get a ford over the chev based on the build quality and the things that arent left behind.

(example) the chev trucks with no brake controller, to install one you need to dig some wires out from under the dash, connect them to the corresponding wires of the brake controller, mount and clean up the mess.
THEN (this is where EVERY other pickup is finished) the chevs... you gotta pop the hood and pull two wires up from down near the bottom (well ok, one is near the frame rail the other is under the wiring harness to the outside of the fuse box (still kinda shitty to get at though) they get connected to two blank spots on the fuse pannel (the left goes to the right and the right goes to the left (why?)) THEN you need  to add a fuse to complete the charge line circuit. THEN ur done, unless you need to clip a 7 way on the back. (another funny thing too, the Fords Chevs and (I think) nissans, ALL use the same style of quick connect 7 ways at the rear of their vehicle.

ive even seen chevs come in sportin Ford plug ends. biggrin haha

oh and for kicks i have a picture of a supercharged 3rd gen Z28. biggrin its gonna make someone here smile i bet.

If you gotta install a brake controller from scratch on a Chev truck, who cares?  In the end it's still a nicer riding truck.  I guess it depends what you want the truck to do.  If you want a heavy duty towing machine, perhaps a F350 or Dodge.  Although the GM 6.6TD does have 650lb/ft of torque (I don't know if Dodge/ford have newer engines with equal/more torque).
The Fords feel solid (with their terrible back-jarring ride).  If you want a good general purpose pickup truck with the best fuel economy, nicest most quiest ride, and power to boot, it's hard to best the Silverado/Sierra with 5.3L.  The Dodge 5.7hemi doesn't impress me much and you can't tell me the Ford triton isn't slow as fuck. wink

I'm a GM guy, there are Ford, Dodge guys (and Nissan, Toyota guys too.. the Tundra is a VERY nice truck) they all have their high and low points.
