FOR SALE Digital clock and front vent windows out of a 1987 Mercury Grand Marquis. I know this is the wrong site to try and sell that, but we've had them since we got rid of the '87 Merc like 5 or 6 years ago. We got a Ford wagon after that that the parts would interchange for... we just never got around to putting them in. They are still sitting in my garage just taking up precious space. Let me know and make me an offer if you want them...
WANT TO BUY Not right this second but at some point in the relatively near future I need...
-Power sunroof motor -Driver's side front window track -Passenger side power mirror -Center console armrest/storage lid thingy. My hinge is broken and I know that happens a lot. Unfortunately, a new one from GM is like a gazillion dollars. ** All for my '95 Grand Prix coupe.
Also, if anyone has a set of rear struts for sale... thatd be nice too, but I think I'm just gonna go with new ones.
Thanks guys.

-Driver's side front window track
I think that I actually have this. But let me replace my window first and see if I happen to need it.

The Generation I 3.1L V6 was an astonishing feat of engineering as it had the best of both worlds: The power of a 4-cylinder, yet the fuel economy of a V8.

I think that I actually have this. But let me replace my window first and see if I happen to need it. That would be awesome if you've got it. Mine keeps coming out of the track and my dad said its because the felt is worn out of the old one so therefore I need a new one. If you are gonna sell it, let me know, and let me know how much you want for it.

If I truly need a new window... that makes me think the design is incredibly stupid... there's no problem what so ever with the glass or anything

If I truly need a new window... that makes me think the design is incredibly stupid... there's no problem what so ever with the glass or anything See the tabs on the edge of the window, there are 4 in total and they go inner and outer and what happens is that they wear off and then your window goes up like this: Look closely at the driver's side window in the pic. Mine will rotate on the way up finding a different channel, probably what yours will do.

Mine tends to tilt forward when going up. If you hold it, its okay. I stand by my statement of it being a stupid design.

I don't think it is a stupid design, windows wear out just as mechanicals in general wear out. Maybe the person who had your car before you, used that window a lot therefore wearing the tabs down as Breakdown stated.
My mom's Regal is a '88, she bought it brand new, that makes it 22 years old and she has never had window problems can't be that bad of a design. Things just eventually wear out from excessive use. In fact the only problems she's ever had in 22 years of ownership is the harmonic balancer had to be replaced after it fell off, she has a small rear intake leak and the cruise control stopped working, which she doesn't use anyway.

No, it's a stupid design, you look on E-bay and everyone has the same comment: Windows go off of the track and it's the same non-sense.

Design is materials. The guy who designed these windows is obviously retarded, you don't have to look any further than the actual windows themselves when working properly, there's that big useless gap at the back end of the coupe windows that was there all of the way through the first gens.

Strange how about of all the W bodies I've had I've yet to run into one that has had window issues compared to every Pontiac Grand Am I've owned has had window issues.
Everyone else who owns a W body must be getting the ones build on Monday or on Friday.

The clips can be had in the HELP! section at most parts stores.

I just had a clip go bad on my Blazer's driver-side window and it would tilt out whenever you'd roll up the window. O'Reilly's had the clips in stock for 4 bucks. One kit has an upper and a lower clip, but to me they looked the same. I only installed the upper clip, FWIW.
You have to bust off the remnants of the old clip with a side cutter, but once you get the new clip on the window and the window snapped back into the track, it shouldn't pop back out again.
Speaking of Grand Am's, when I think about it, my old 87 Grand Am had the same problem (a few years after I sold the car to my brother, of course!)
