arent there Cams for the 3.4? and depending on the year the newer model LQ1s have better flow from what i hear on the LIM and UIM with the long runner before the TB from the later models and that this setup will bolt near directly to the older engines. just a few extra wires and some new Throttle cables.
ive also seen a few LQ1s with turbos on them and the battery relocated to the trunk, but as said before me, without breakin the bank? not a whole lot.
some guys do a -6 +6 timing, im not sure which cam to advance and which to retard, but you can get more bottom end power out of it...

HP IS torque... and if you want to get more specific, it's the amount of torque at a specific RPM.
so, you can have more torque(and thus HP) in the lower RPM range or more torque(thus HP) at higher RPMs, depending on what you do with the cams.

Ummm if torque and horsepower are the same, then why do we measure them separately?

fuck if i know, but the equation for HP is (Ft-Lb of torque X RPM)/5252... which more or less makes HP an indicator of how much torque at specific RPMs. technically, they aren't measured seperately... torque is measured and HP is derived from it.

but if you look at a graph from a dyno there are two lines one for torque and one for hp. and there isnt really a pattern, i mean at any given rpm you can have more hp/torque.
my cousins old 514 was putting out 500hp and a whopping 600ft/lbs of torque. the 3800 and the 3.4 have the same hp and torque numbers almost, just switched around.
i dunno tho
Post Merge: June 06, 2010, 05:25:43 PM ahhh horsepower is based off of how much torque is applied in a certain amount of time.

correct, time being the RPM variable.

Use smaller diameter but same width tires on the front end and try 93 octane gas. You might try a higher number final drive ratio if you ever pull the transmission. These engines can wind up. I am not sure why they have gears suited to a higher torque engine.

Compared to other transmission offerings for 1st gen w-bodies, they have transmissions suited to higher revs. Take the L27's 4T60E. Also, I wouldn't bother with cams for an LQ1. You'd have to replace 4 cams, and I doubt that would be cheap. For that price, you might as well throw a couple hundred more in and get an L67.
