yea I'm trying to differentiate myself on this forum from my other forum names like aleromod.com I'm happyisthealero.. I have the 3.4L DOHC it has an oil leak and I dont think you want to see pics just yet, I'll get some soon, I'm rat rodding it out seeing how I got it at a junkyard, and at this time currently trying to locate special parts for performance and repairs. I mostly use the car as a DD. I debadged and used 500-800 grit to sand it down. I will be using flat black spray paint on it in the spring. and I have a horrible depiction of my pinstriping skills on the hood.

i want pictures!!! oil leak? can you tell where its coming from? i bet its the oil pump drive seal in combination with the PCV hose being deteriorated.
Post Merge: November 28, 2009, 08:21:02 AM -i can send you TONS of links to performance parts for your engine, everything from crank scrapers new cams some better fuel injectors... you can drop in different pistons and a smaller crank to make a short stroke 3.2 out of it!! haha theres a few things ive read up on, even guys moving the battery and putting on a turbo.
believe it or not, a turbo REALLY makes those engines roar.

3.2?!?! never heard of it... Yes oil leak from the front head gasket been like that 3-4 years now. Still runs decent except after a cold start, put it in gear and when making right turns it begins to hesitate then corrects it self, if it can do that, then drives fine going straight and making left turns. Yes post the links on here. I would rather the links and parts be available to me and any others as well. Reason being to create a better market for us dohc guys and to lower prices:D if that makes sense. Somehow it does for me:D. Moving the battery would be awesome. Gm and their wisdom decided to install the washer fluid over the battery, that's just a big no no for me.. I've had to replace the positive cable on my alero because of spilled washer fluid..

supposidly its what happens when you put a 3.1 crank into a 3.4... that displacement might be wrong, but it WAS a 3.4 DOHC and now its something like a boosted 3.2 DOHC because of the lowered compression ratio i guess? i forget. theres another forum i should just aim you towards its full of guys who want to max the shit out of their 60ºV6's... but someone might get mad at me if i post a link so lets be hush hush about it, ok?

Its the same on my 3.1. It really is a stupid design. I'm just praying I never get a dead battery. It always makes me nervous when driving at night and I press the brakes the headlights get noticably dimmer...

theres a link in there somewhere... its not really that hidden either. haha join that forum too. im a member there, i dont hide it. but it really is for performance... i find this is more of a problem solving forum, they have great write ups here for some of the beginner stuff with your car, and getting a little more trickier as more and more write ups are coming. upgrades, repairs, common design flaws like the gen1 keyless entry cold soldiering thing... and the low fuel check gauges lights. sometimes when you ask a 'simple' question on that site you get shut out by the guys that run it, and they respond like dicks. but if you tell em you wanna max out your 3.4dohc you'll get alot of support, and alot of people telling you to swap to 3x00. swap all your tail light (3157) bulbs with LED replacements, this fixes this problem. also, a new brake switch might be necessary or to clean yours out as the electrical grease inside has probably gone a little thick making the contacts weak. Post Merge: November 28, 2009, 09:51:05 AM
moving the battery is as simple as installing an amplifier. all you do, is connect to the original positive connection with a 0 gauge (i guess 2 gauge could work) cable, run it to the trunk, use a 2 gauge (or some left over 0) for the ground, get a battery mounting kit, and ground the original loacations ground post to the body of the car. done. -if you already have a crazy ass stereo and have 0 gauge wire running from front to back, this could be done even faster... i think im gonna do this one day at work...

I think every GM I've ever owned has done that. It's even worse on the cars/trucks with ABS. And your 95's battery isn't hard to remove or access at all! The 88-93's are the ones that are the PITA to remove, what with the plastic shroud covering the battery, the huge fusebox in the way, and the plastic cover that goes between the cross brace and fender...

I don't know, a cross brace and a washer fluid reservoir in the way of the negative terminal isnt what i would call easy to get to. I hope I never need a jump as I don't usually carry tools with me. My trunk has a jack, a spare tire, and dozens of detailing chemicals in it. Plus some standing water after a decent rainfall.

ours are easy, what are you guys complaining about?? NEGATIVE terminal?? how much paint did you eat as a kid, the whole fucking car is a negative terminal. any bare metal on the engine should work. remote positive boost terminal too... ok, and to take it out all you need is the wrench for the side post terminals, a 12" extenstion and 13mm socket. i can have mine out in like 5 mins.
the older ones with the half resovoir that didnt even cover the battery was way easier, however only held 2L of washer fluid... Ghey.
so, what is the complaint with the battery location?
Post Merge: November 28, 2009, 01:54:42 PM at least its not like a smart car, under the carpeting near the passengers feet. real smart.
