Just make sure it is a power steering type house. The pressure is higher than regular hoses, and if it's not a power steering type hose it could blow out.
When I replaced mine I got an AC Delco type power steering hose.
Welcome to the forum. I'd love to see some pictures of your ride.

Thanks! Yes I'm looking at a no name replacement for around $30 (the ends look correct) GM wants 170 and are getting from an outside source.

Yeah for 30 bucks you can't go wrong as long as it is a power steering type hose. If the factory one lasted 20 years this one should another 15-20 years.

I replaced one of mine with some off-the-shelf parts store special, it's been fine for 6 years now. Just replaced the rubber hose on the other end because it had a slit, I had the whole hose brand new in the bag, but it was simple enough to just replace a 6" section of the rubber hose itself with some high pressure hose.

Thanks, have the hose now and sounds like a weekend project. From everything I've read it looks like you need to drop the back of the cradle. I'm going to try without doing that but we will know after tomorrow!

I have done without dropping the back of the cradle. It is difficult, but very much possible.

That's good to hear!!! Will give it my best shot and let you know after the weekend. I plan to cut the line above the 18mm and use a 6 point to remove. I also borrowed a tool (not sure what it's called, looks like 1/2 a scissor jack)that mounts in the front engine bracket to help pull the engine forward.

Loosen your front dog bone. That will give you some play in the engine too.

The technical term would be upper front torque mount. But dog bone for short.

Yeah I did mine without moving or disconnecting any mounts. It was a PITA but I didn't want to disconnect anything other than the lines. If you have a friend with a lift, that's your best bet.

You guys were right it's not an easy job without a lift. The left 10 mm bolt in the shield cover took about the longest; i had to loosen the sway bar to get it out. Second was starting the 18 mm line. Well it is finished! Now enjoy the a ride
