Are you going to have your front end painted to match the rest of the car?
Of course! Just got through doing the rocker panels on my truck, so there's plenty of sandpaper, primer, and GM Polar White left over. I'm hoping it'll come out pretty close - in my limited experience I've found white to be easy, and this car's paint isn't faded or discolored at all.

I've painted my front bumper on my car with Dupli color. I can't even tell a difference from the rest of car. Yes white paint can be matched very nicely.

i always thought it was stupid for the low beams to shut off when the high beams are on, but i was going to wire mine in with a relay so they all stayed on, let me know if it melts the lenses, if not ill follow your lead.

Actually, I do have a Whelen LED Traffic Advisor and some Sho-Me TIR6 red lightheads, along with some 5/8 wave steel whips and a pile of Motorola 2-ways. But impersonating a cop is frowned apon 'round these parts... that and you'd get grouped in with what the local ham operators call "law enforcement whackers". Eek.
Why, you ask, do I have all that laying around? It was from back when we did towing for hire... had them on a '90 Caprice that we used for slowing down traffic around the truck, hauling stranded motorists, running to give jumps, change tires, etc. With all that red and amber running it could put on quite a light-show! (Have to see if I have any pics of *that* scanned!)

How'd you get away with red? Only to the rear?
Pile of Motorola 2-ways?

In our state it's legal for tow-trucks and roadside assistance vehicles to have red lights. But they can only be used when you're parked; trying to move traffic with them would be a major no-no. Blue lights are also verboten... the Federal strobe bar we ran on the tow-truck had to have all its blue lenses swapped for red or amber first. Pile of Motorola 2-ways?
Yup. I had been collecting up Motorola VHF gear at the time, and still have about four Maxtracs and a few Spectras. I figured the radios would be our main form of communication, but in reality we ended up using the cell phones more.

What freqs are they setup for? You want to sell, and if so how much?

For starters, I should say that the Maxtracs are 16-pin, 16-channel units. Not sure what the Spectras are exactly, but I do recall that they were Model IIs with remote heads (gov surplus). It's been too long since I played with this stuff on a daily basis, so I forget the ranges... but I do know they all cover 150-160 or so. Supposedly the hams can get them down into the 140s with relative ease, but I've never tried. Always figured I'd get my ticket someday and find out - like I need another hobby! I sold off the more valuable ones back when we wrapped up the tow business (a couple of like-new MCS2000 model II's, pair of slick-front UHF HT1000's with vehicular chargers, and two UHF Pyramid MVRs - take a wild guess how I had things configured, ha ha). I hadn't really considered selling the rest, but I'll give it some thought and let you know.

Hmmm I think most of the 100-200 range is in use around here... I'll have to scan some channels and see.
