Hey everyone, Just checking in. I had a black 95 Cutlass Supreme Coupe back a few years ago that I was forced to sell, then ended up getting into Subaru SVXes the past few years. (I've owned 25 within 3 years and specialize in parts, maintenance and custom work) I've wanted a 95 Vert ever since shortly after buying my coupe and am possibly trading one of my SVXes for a 95 "green" (sorry, don't know the technical color names yet) with tan/beige top and interior. (not my first choice, but the price is right and is close) 3.4 dohc with 99k miles and apparently the heat doesn't work. I haven't checked it out in person so nothing is final as he also hasn't seen the SVX so I'll know of anything more soon. Just curious if there is anything to be aware of as far as issues. I know the common things to check when purchasing a car as well as having a pretty good idea of things to check out causing the lack of hot air from the heater. I also know about GM 60* LIM issues and the possibility and PITA of the alternators.

*I've also had a 99 Grand Prix GT coupe with HUD, heated leather, etc that I sold with 213k miles

I currently live in Sheboygan, WI with some shop space in South Beloit, IL and will be moving come January to Meadville, PA and working as a service manager in Erie, PA.

Welcome!

Things I'd check before buying timing belt left hand side of the engine a couple 8mm btw removes the cover. Check for missing pieces around the edge or for cracking. It's not a deal breaker if the belt looks worn they aren't too difficult to replace as long as you get to it before it breaks.

The most common spot for these to rust is the TA mounts. BY the rear tires check for rust issues.

Check to make sure the top functions well. Hard to do when it cold out because even a good functioning top will take longer to go down or up in the cold.

They can get bad really quick. Especially if you live in an area of the rust belt. I've seen so many first gens  w-body cars at the scrap yard due to failed TA mounts.

That's where my Lumina is headed, I fixed the TA mounts on both sides and they're great, but the lateral control arms are shot. With the amount of rust back there, I'd never be able to remove the bolts that attach them to the monoleaf's subframe.

It sucks removing seized bolts. I recall seeing pictures of your lateral arms. They looked really bad.

I thought some had solid lateral arms? Or are they all hallow? I know my GP has hallow lateral arms.

Mine are hollow. Well, they're supposed to be - they're currently filled with rust lol
