Hello all! I just stumbled on this forum, and decided to join up for a ride. I've been a member of El Camino Central and G-body.com for some time, as I've had an '87 Camino for 16 years. Recently I lost my job managing a B-P-G dealer, as we were one of the unfortunate small dealers to be axxed by GM. Lost my company car in the job change, so I went looking for a cheap W with a 3.8l as a driver, and found a clean Intrigue on craigslist. Hopefully I'll be able to learn a few things here about W-body upkeep, as I do most of my own work on my cars. As a once-ASE Certified Technician, maybe I can contribute a thing or two. Bill

Intrigue was definitely a "W". Chassis, however was slightly different from Grand Prix, Regal etc. Wheelbase was 1 1/2" shorter than the std. W dimensions, supposedly to make the Olds more nimble, in the mission to attract midsize buyers more likely to consider Japanese cars. I actually was looking for a GP or Regal, but Olds models don't keep their value as well as the others, so you can buy a nicer, lower miles Olds for less money than a Pontiac or Buick. I've had at least one or two Grand Prixs each year as company cars from 1999 to 2008, including some GTP's and two GXP's, but the Intrigue will do for now as my daily driver, especially in winter when the El Camino stays garaged.
