Ok, so while at work and browsing through their bookmarks, i found this. its information about wiring the accessory power so that it turns off after the ignition is turned off and then the door is opened. its not on a timer like normal RAP but its good enough for me!

I have modules that come from police cruisers that are similar to RAP modules. They have a timer that you can set, and it will provide up to 30A of power to that device up to the point specified in the timer settings. Auto-voltage sensing, so it starts the countdown as soon as your engine turns off. Pretty nifty. I bought a bunch of them, but then decided not to use 'em.
