I was able to acquire this laundry list of problems this car's had: Please have a look all of this was fixed under waranty at the dealership. I was able to get the hook-up on some of the records using the VIN#
02/02, 0km Pre-delivery Inspection
05/02, 2726km B1788 - Transmission Assembly, Windshield Wiper replace.
04/03, 24,670km N0528 Light bulb
03/04, 40,899km V1038 - 03034 - Replace Throttlebody nuts add coolant pellets
07/06, 47,964km D1002 - Resistor, Blower Motor - Replace
04/05, 65,951km L2300 - Converter, oxidation catalytic - Replace
01/06, 90,584km E2320 - Bearing and hub assembly, front wheel, right - replace. (during safety the left wheel bearing was replaced).
03/06, 93,544km J5491 - Gasket, Throttle Body - Replace J3500 - Thermostat, outlet and or gasket replace J0255 - Gasket, intake manifold (upper) replace
It has low 120k's on it now. Price = $7000, loaded up extremely well with options.
Question - Would I be inheriting a problem child or is all of this crap that went wrong, I'm thinking manifold and bearings good news to see.

those really are standard repairs for a GP. You would not believe how many hubs and converters I handed out over the 18 months I ran the parts counter at the local dealer. However I get a kick out of the recall for coolant system pellets. "Lets fix this one for good!!" what a joke at least its got a new cat conv and hubs, looks like the trans was replaced as well? What does that exchange to in US $? I'd say about $5k US would be my top dollar, just because of the mileage.

I haven't really seen any cheaper, the exchange is dead on right now, but we're paying higher new prices still, there hasn't been a trickle down, the mileage also converts: 75K miles. If the transmission was replaced it was with less than 2,000 miles on the car, I think that they just tinkered a little bit.

It looks like they just repaired the trans, and yeah they all look like somewhat routine problems with Grand Prixs.
But come on...who the hell takes a car in to replace a light bulb!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Under 36K and the bulbs are replaced under warranty. That's probably why they took it in.
In some cases its not unheard of them replacing the trans, I know there were issues with some of the solenoids in there. Could have possibly destroyed the internals or something. All in all it doesn't sound like a bad deal. We are talking the N/A 3800 right? I'm pretty sure they resolved the UIM/EGR tube problem on those engines by '02.
3800's are damn good engines, they run strong and you don't have to worry about much. It doesn't appear to have any serious electrical problems, so depending on book value I might change my price.
Is this a dealer or private owner?

Is this a dealer or private owner? It's dealer, E-tested, saftied and I think every conceivable option. Polished Torque stars, sunroof, leather, power seat, heated seat, steering wheel controls, keyless remote. The exchange is nill, but I think that you have to factor about 10-15% in because no costs are decreasing here on consumer items. Seriously. There are articles in papers everywhere stating that cars like lets say the Corrola are way, way overpriced here. I think currently the Corolla is $2,500 more here before taxes and we have the plant inwhich they are built next door to our city so destination is not doing it. Everyone's afraid of a rebound here and current stock costs USD at 10-15% exchange rates when things were purchased. It's trying times in Canada in many ways because manufacturers are really feeling the crunch. I'm in the manufacturing sector, but we're a rare instance of buy US sell in Cdn and we're really racking in some good profits lately because of it.

it kind of looks like the "transmission assembly" listed above actually refers to the windshield wiper motor??

120,000km ?
For $7000 safetied and e-tested on a 2002 sounds like a bargain! I work at a dealership and we have a base Impala with over 100k (2001 or 2002) and it's going for like $9000 "Optimum used" LOL

I work at a dealership and we have a base Impala with over 100k (2001 or 2002) and it's going for like $9000 "Optimum used" LOL They mixed up some of the options with an older GT they had which is kind of annoying, but the drive was half decent. One key fob is lost. No leather, no heated seats or driver information center and no HUD or heated seats. It does have the one keyless, power driver's seat, ABS, Traction control, sunroof, Upgraded stereo w/CD and steering wheel controls and all of the other usual crap that goes into a GT, it's still a good buy, but not a spectacular one. I have to think about it, I've never had a car without the outside temperature guage. How 'bout getting that dealership to me up with a nice employee discount?

Ouch, that sucks it doesn't have all the options they listed before. I hate when that happens....when my GP was listed online, it was listed as a base GT LMAO...oh how wrong were they.

Now would be a great time to come in with a much lower offer. You were interested at 7000 for the loaded 02 GT, but for the unloaded 02 GT you're only interested if you can get it for $5500 or $6000

You were interested at 7000 for the loaded 02 GT, but for the unloaded 02 GT you're only interested if you can get it for $5500 or $6000 It has already "sold" once, financing went through. I actually was worried it was a bait & switch meaning that the car didn't exist, and the guy was just trying to drum up business. These guys don't screw around, nor do I, when people are asking the same price for a 2000 GT with more km's & no sunroof, it's a lost cause. It'll sell and should have long ago. I'm still searching, I got a tip on an 2003, private, similar options, sunroof, 90,000km asking is $8700, I gotta see what I can do. Car's a little further away and torqouise which would bother some but not me. My preference is white.
