the front cover looks mirror image of a 3.1,3.4. that how it fits, the water pump is sashayed to the front ( car wise) to make it fit the wide way

Isn't the main difference between the LS1 and the LS4 (other than .4 liters of displacement between the 2) the front cover?  They had to make it narrower to be able to fit it transversely in the 3G dubya body.  Otherwise they're essentially the same motor...
