At the moment the DIC installed in my 98 GP GT 2door is the baseline one that tells you what doors on the vehicle are open and allows me to turn the traction control off and tells me when the trunk is open/oil light/traction loss light/etc - u get the point. i was wondering if this would be easily swapped out with the more advanced one

would i have to pull any new wires to make it happen?

EDIT: atm, this is the exact unit in my car

You would have to do some wiring to make it work.  I think it needs extra power and grounds for the display to work, as well as some more data lines.

I remember thinking that it would not be too hard, and back in 1999, that Grand Prix GT that I was going to buy, it had the n/a 3800, but the same DIC (the boost gauge was just disabled).  Worked just fine.

I was thinking about getting one of those, and hooking the boost gauge up to the TPS so I could tell what the computer was seeing as my throttle percentage, but then I realized that I don't know how the boost gauge gets it's signal.  I think it is controlled by a BCM.

I THINK I still have a complete 2002 Grand Prix wiring diagram in PDF form.  If you want it, I can try to email it too you.  Just PM me your email address if you want it.

forgot to add that the PDF file I have it not the same as the normal GM ones.  There are a lot of pages marked PROTOTYPE, but I think that has more to do with the format it is written than actual prototype equipment.

gotcha, thanks for the PDF offer but i purchased a year of service for my GP from eautorepair.net. it's like a chilton/haynes manual on crack, i love it tongue i suppose i probably should've consulted the wiring diagrams they had before posting  bash

regarding the DIC...  for a car running on a 96 PCM... would one of the 97+ GP full information DICs work?

Not really any reason it wouldn't.
