driving it this morning, noticed whenever I'd give it more 1/2 throttle it would stumble, feel like the trans would be slipping and it wouldn't catch the gear.  Although, the trans is fine.  After a few minutes the SES light started flashing.  So, misfire FTL.  Anybody know what the code would be?  I don't have a scanner, and I really don't want to drive it(would it be ok?) to the autozone in town.  Spark problem? clogged cat?

Pull the plugs and see if they look fouled.

I didn't check the plugs.  It only happened right after i started it this morning.  I got back in and went home and it drove fine.  No sputtering or hesitation at all.  Shut it off and started it and drove  to the store, home, then back to school and it was fine.  So i dont know lol

lol no way! The lumina was starting to nickel and dime me too much.  From the turn of the new year til last week I had to dump $400 into it for shit.  I don't regret selling it, and gettin this car(although the Lumina is still in my heart cry  )

It's the dreaded cracked plastic upper intake manifold!

That's how I picked my GP up for $400. The last guy that owned it said he was coming around a corner and it started missing real bad and started spitting out white smoke and then died of course. Got it towed home and tried I don't know what to get it started and then just slapped a 'For-Sale' sign that had 'Bad Motor' written on it w/ a $400 tag.  cool

Check the coils and ICM.  My 96 Lumina did the exact same thing (SES light flashing, "Random Cylinder Misfire" code pulled.)  I changed out the ICM/coil assembly and problem solved...

Well to bring up an old thread, it was the 52k mile original coils/plugs/wires.  New of each and she's good as new.
