Wow, GTP owners defintly beware, and check those fuel lines, my Chiropracters 2000 Grand Prix GTP< Coupe, midnight blue, black leather, HUD, just went up in flames! He drove it home and herd a wierd noise, and walked by his window to see the entire engine bay engulfed in flames. the fire department came, had to cut open the hood to get to the flames, and then had to go inside and drench the interior in water because the fire spread inside to the inside of the dash.

My 97 had a blown valve cover gasket.  Once all that leaked onto the exhaust manifold got hot enough, it caught fire.  It was while I was at work too. sad  At least I was at the car when it happened though.  Ran inside and grabbed a fire extinguisher, and got it out.  Only spent around 110 to fix it.

Still sucks though, looking at the charred wire harness when I open the hood. sad

it seem to be a problem that's not limited to just the L67.  i was looking at an Intrique at the j/y the other day with a TOASTED L36.  major fire that looked like it started at the top of the engine and was so bad the dash & windshield were even melted.

That sucks. oops  Our plastic valve covers are bad about leaking oil, even when the cars are relatively new.

my one local junkyard has roughly 10 or so 97-up GPs and at least 8 of them have had engine fires.

I know on L36s there was a recall for fuel pressure regulators regaurding the possibility of leaking I believe.. can't remember the exact details, my grandma had gotten one for her '01? Impala though.
