So I picked one up tonight.  The car gets warm, but the air inside doesn't seem to get "hot" like it should.  If I let it idle after I've been driving for awhile, it will get "hot" and the gauge will go up, but after driving a short distance, that's all but gone.  So I'm figuring thats bad.

But...my real question...the PCM doesn't require any type of tuning to run that thermostat does it?  I didn't think about this till after I picked it up (wow...$10!) It's not that much colder so I don't think it'll hurt, and I don't think I'll notice that much of a difference even in the colder temps.

Any input?

Nah it will run fine.  I have had a 180* stat in mine forever.  Heater still works great in the winter.  It is nice in the summer too with my dhp cause the fans turn on at 186*.

You might want to put the stock one in for the winter (quicker warmup time, and therefore possibley better fuel econemy) and use the 180 in the summer for when you actually need it.  I question if there is really that much of a difference between a 180 and 195 (as far as warmup time) maybe you have a defective t-stat.

The T-stat will effect the FANS, but not that much.  If you went with a 160, then you would have to get the PCM redone.  Going with a 180 really is not going to do much of anything.  I have done that with all my cars (running the 180 instead of the stock).  The only engine that I had issues with was my custom 3100 and that was using the 160 with a STOCK programming.

i find that i have to run the blower speed @ 3 most of the time to get decent heat with the 180*...it does get warm though, and it actually warms up faster with the 180* stat...

You don't need to swap your stat back to a 195* in the winter.  Just cover part of your radiator with a piece of cardboard when it's extremely cold, and the heat output will return to normal...

Not on my gtp.  My heater blows really hot with the 180* in there.  Also my fans turn on at 186 so the engine runs cooler and no heat problems.

i have a 180* thermostat ready to go in (thanks to Dan lol) and i went and bought the gasket, but i'm hesitant to put it in because my heater SUCKS as it is!  my scans showed normal coolant temps though, so i'm starting to think maybe my heater core is clogged up or something.

Well, it's in.  Got warm quick, but thats probably because it was in the garage with the heater on.  I'd say it was about 45* in the garage.  Anyway, bled the coolant (not much air in the system though) and I'll know for certain later tonight if I did it right or not.  Then again, thats a hard job to mess up.

I'm not worried about warmup times, I honestly think that it was just a bad T-stat.  As for fan speed and how hot it gets...believe me...it can only get better...lol

The heater always sucked in that car!

Josh, I'd try flushing out the heater core/coolant system.  My Regal puts out plenty of heat.
