ok, so coolant is leaking out of my car, somewhere near where the water pump is. its not a HORRIBLE leak. (as in it wont dump all the coolant instantly, if i leave the radcap loose it doesnt really even leak.

now i cant really tell where the leak is coming from, as it hits the accessory drive belt and the shit gets thrown everywhere. i can hear something whining when the engine is running. (besides my power steering pump) lol -leaking that fluid too. so, what kinda test is there to find out where its leaking from without a compressor? (i dont have the pressure testing tool to check it out.) so i was thinking of just taking the belt off and turning each pully by hand till i find the one that cries, grinds or otherwise does not turn smooth. hoping its the water pump.

when the bearings go in one will it spray coolant out of the shaft hole dealy?

well there is this metal line from the water pump, down the side of the engine bay, then up near the rear accesory belts to the connections for the heater core, they corrode all the time and leak. Headgaskets ehhhh doubtful. The waterpumps are real cheap and quick to do on these cars, i would start there

whats a good test for the water pump? when i turn that pulley, if its making bad noises would that cause coolant to shoot out?

and there was some sludgy shit on the bottom of the rad cap, could be from the old motor though for all i know. when i filled the coolant to try see where it was peeing from, there was no oil on top of the rad though. and no coolant in the oil.  so im confused as to what the black shit is. but whatever. lol

-i found an engine with transmission online for $300. so if anything is too expensive, ill buy that. pull its water pump and rebuild that one for transplant later. haha at $300 for a motor with i think the guy said 240,000km or some shit on it, thats not too bad. (if i only need the water pump) did i mention it comes with the transmission?

Unless the engine is a 3100 or an L67 I wouldn't bother...

bearing is shit in the old pump, which by the way was one of the easiest ive ever removed. (only one that was easier -that ive done myself, was a 3100)    and maybe its because i didnt have the right size wrench for the tensioner. hahaha oops.    hmmm a new tensioner couldnt hurt either maybe.

i would like to report mission success.

waterpump was shot. bearings were toast. my guess is thats where the coolant was peeing out of. the new waterpump sure makes my engine quieter. now, when i fix that power steering leak (and maybe a new pump there too) lol the engine will be as quiet as the day it went in the car. (it didnt start for another three days, and didnt run properly for another 2 weeks, maybe 3.) lol now shes spinnin like a top, again. just peeing out some power steering fluid.

got my line for that, but im not sure if its the right one. my leak is right behind the engine and this is a metal line, with cooler but no rubber lines on it. mine has a spot where it goes from rubber to metal
