Interesting TSB i read from GM claims that the high rate off injector failure in the multi-tech injectors using in 80's and early 90's GM vehicles are caused by injector cleaners. Especially those super clean systemt that bypass the pump and use a super concentrated cleaner straight through them. They were saying that the fuel metering portion of the injector is never actually exposed to the gunk usually assciated with clogging injectors. The coils inside the injectors are coated with insulation wich the methonal and other chemicals in the cleaners break down and cause shorts, thus ruining the injectors. Gm claims that the multitech injectors cannot clog, and do not need cleaned. Interesting I thought, Ill think twice about doing that super injector flush on my cars at school.....

sounds BOGUS.

in fact... in the last few years gasoline has gone 10% ethanol... and the injectors aren't supposed to be able to handle that very well...

We've had 10% Ethanol in our gas for over 20 years! (Well, the Twin Cities metro area anyways.  Outstate MN didn't see the switch-over until the late 90's.)  I've never known anybody who's had ethanol related problems with their fuel injectors (at the 10% level, anyways.)

They say you aren't supposed to run E10 in your power equipment, either, but again I've never heard of anybody having problems with it.

ethanol and methanol are chemically identical as far as function, with the difference being only the number of carbon atoms... and that methanol will make you blind...  they have the same solvent properties.

So if there the same, does that mean ethanol is actually a cleaner and cleans injectors just from the pump, meaning FI cleaners are even more useless......right
