Alright soooooo
I got a green 1992 Pontiac Grand Prix here that has a blown 3.1L in it (completely trashed) so I decided to go and transplant the 3.1L from my black grand prix into it. (same year)
well before the engine and trans was pulled from the black car the two components was working flawlessly, but now since the transplant into the green car the engine will only crank but not fire. I have been up and down this car with a fine toothed comb and still this puzzles me. I pulled the fuel rail and sure enough the injectors are NOT firing, so i went through and checked the fuses, the wiring, and everything related and still nothing. I'm running out of ideas as to why this thing wont crank so what idea's do you all have?

I tested for spark a little bit ago, i was able to get a backfire from it, tried testing it again and got nothing. i went through today and checked all of the grounds and they tested out fine.

I instantly thought the ECM first too. Can you run a check on it and pull any codes?

Can not do, The car has been sitting for an undetermined amount of time, has no codes or anything stored on the computer and since it cant be started can get any codes either.

It should put out the self diagnostic code regardless. If it doesn't you have a bad ECM.

Its a good battery, been using it to start another car thats here.
A bit of an update: the injector wires now both have a 12V source going to them (hot at all times), one started leaking a bit of gas while the other 5 injectors did nothing. I applied a source from the battery directly to the injector wiring harness both ground and power and all 6 injctors fired.

ECM comes to mind too. Are you able to pull it and possibly take it to a local GM Dealer to have it tested?

well, it's safe to say it's not the ecm.... I know what this is but can't remember. Sounds sooooo familiar but not hitting it. I tested for spark a little bit ago, i was able to get a backfire from it, tried testing it again and got nothing. i went through today and checked all of the grounds and they tested out fine.
Maybe Ignition Control Module or Coil??

we discovered that there was a problem with the engine itself. Turns out it had blown up when we parked it. It is just a coincidence but the engine is bad, but was fine when we parked it.
I am letting him fix the STE and he is going to use that until we can get a good engine for it.

i dont think an engine just "goes bad" that easily.my cadillacs V8 still freakin ran after sittin 12 years and on 12 year old gas, lol. Didnt even knock, Just a bunch of flat cam lobes, lol....no compression? Somtimes it takes awhile to reseat the rings to get compression when its sat so long.
