last weekend, i cleaned up the wiring underneath the car and reloomd it and powerwashed underneath, made 4ga stereo wire battery cables, moved the coilpacks and put the w/f reservoir in (coil packs were where its supposed to be) only to find that theres no power going to the connector that plugs into the pump. i also loomed some stuff up top, painted the fender braces red and the cowling and wiper arms black. i repainted the headlamp housings, put in my 4300K 9006 bulbs, apc front turn bulbs, and ge nighthawk 9005 bulbs. one of the fogs was out, so i put in a new H3 bulb and no worky, so i was in it was a test light, saw as spark, and then both lights went out. i think i need to replace the relay??? i need to aim the headlights after work and take some engine bay pix. hopefully, i can get the body cleaned up throughout the week, get the swc's working, and figure out my AQ9, fog, and w/f pump wiring problems edit: took some pix: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v476/pwmin/91%20Grand%20Prix/

Nice job on the body-colored cross braces! It looks like the car left the factory that way. Check the fuses before you check the foglight relay. I don't think the relay would burn out if you shorted the wires, but you never know. The coil inside could've fused itself together...

so, amp is trash for the door speakers, so i decided to run the door speakers off the rear channel coming off the deck and running my 6x9's off an amp as subs. i am also fitting 5 1/4" infinity reference components in the doors. the dash speakers will be kappa 4x6 plates and the rears will be kappa 3-way 6x9's. didnt wanna run wiring in this thing, but thats the way its working out. hopefully, ill be able to get all this stuff in.
i also got red bulbs for the instrument cluster. i used the shift indicator as a test and pulled the old bulb out and got a new bulb to fit and it works and shows up red instead of orange. i wish i just had some of that paper or whatever ross used to change it to red. are these lights normally red or does the backing just fade over time so it shows up orange? didnt know the bulbs werent supposed to come out like the ones on my 96. i actually think i might have enough of the bases that use new bulbs, so i might just do that instead of ruining these.
i get so distracted and start something other than what i originally planned and it ends up taking forever, lol. still have to fix the fogs and seats and work on the exterior.

and the pneumatic part of the seats quit working all of the sudden too. i have the same problem with the pneumatic AQ9 seats in my Trofeo. i can hear the motor/compressor or whatever working but nothing happens. the only switches for the seats on the center console that work are the recliine button. the other power seat switches (on the door) all work but the pneumatic part for the lumbar support doesn't do anything. i pulled the center console out and everything is plugged in including the air lines but i guess i'll have to pull the seats out and have a look under there. if you find the problem keep us posted.

My STE seats are like that too. I figure it has to be a broken air line, pump sounds like it's working fine. I haven't had a chance to look yet.

thought i already explained what was going on with the seats, but i didnt. when i got the car, everything was fine w/ the AQ9 controls. i took the console out and put it back together and now the controls do not work nor do they have any power to any wires. i know which plugs go to the AQ9 controls, but where do the other ones go? i feel like such a dumbass. . i am going to tear the seats out this weekend hopefully and fix this if i can find time between the stereo and cleaning up the exterior. i am also having other problems with the driver seat that i am going to try to fix. any comment on the instrument panel?

shit, I forget what's under there.
seat controls DIC cig lighter lights (don't know if you have any, no shift indicator) ...
I'm pretty sure the seat ones themselves and the seatbelt switches run under the carpet seperate from what's under the console. I can't remember.
and I don't know for sure, but I want to say the upshift light is red anyway.

you wanna know why the seats didnt work?
im a dee dee dee.
got the interior back together for now and the outside buffed, so im going to take some pix and get em up hopefully later today. got all the stereo in, but im having a noise problem and i can hear the radio through the rear speakers when the volume is really low. the antenna was spliced together, so i think im getting interference from that, so i have to pull the hu out and unplug the ant. and see if it goes away. theres hardly enough room to fit my flush-mount hu even with shit knocked out of the back so that makes it a pia to do the stereo. thing im going to just mount it out a half inch for now till i get all the problems fixed. this jvc is the longest hu ive ever had.
question (with some background): right now, i have my 6x9's hooked up to the sub channel on my hu and the cutoff is 115Hz. is it wise to keep it like that or put it on the rear output channel? i just dont want to fuck up my 3-way kappas. they werent cheap. i do think my lightning audio 100x2 amp is enough since it can drown out my fronts no problem even at lower rms. rms rating of these speakers is 110W.

well, i decided to run my rears on the rear channel. i have to turn the gain down on my amp or amp my front 4 speakers. after a bunch of customizing, i got the hu to mount in flush and not be too much of a pia to get in. im done for now after i tune the system. eventually, i might amp the front 4, but i really dont want to, esp now.
cant wait to get the parts for the intake swap and t-belt/o-ring. i need more money

shit, thats been going on for a while. i remember when you posted it on w-body. its a nice tool for a good price, but im planning on doing this this weekend, so im going to just use the tools at my dad's shop. he has all the tools to do it as well as a degree wheel and dial indicator. it should be fairly easy since i used the degree wheel to time the cam in my camaro and i changed the timing belt on the 96 i had. oldskool said something about doing +6/-7.

i found a post on 60* that i replied to. im confused what to do. im hearing that maybe i shouldnt do 6/6 on 96 cam carriers, but maybe 6/2 instead? i have a set of 92 cam towers. maybe i should use those instead? i already got a belt for the 96 cogs, but i can always return it and get one for a 92.
