so, lets just pretend for a second that we were changing the valve cover on our LQ1. just the front one. now lets also pretend that we forgot to put the seals in for around the spark plugs... in our imaginary world what would you be using to suck the oil out from around the plugs? or should i just let it burn away?

I have a hand operated suction device used for draining fluids, such as the transmission or a boat engine(car motor in a boat has no drainplug access)
otherwise, I have drained struts on our cars with the use of a coat hanger and paper tissues. cut and bend a small hook on the end, stick the tissue on like you would a worm on a fishing hook, and dunk it in the shaft, pull and toss the tissue, stick another on, and repeat until the tube is empty.
