i had a little 'problem' tonite... i was driving back from downtown and it was kind of into the sun a little. and keep in mind im still part way through my HUD install. its WIRED and i just got it kindof mounted today (at the cost of accidentally adding ANOTHER crack to the windshield -that needs to be replaced anyway) so, i used the original brackets that came from the GP. however i needed them to be the same length and one was longer, cut them down and just made my own little feet thinggies at the bottom with pieces of an old brake controller bracket. (added two L shaped brackets to the bottom of the now shortened to be level other bracket) screwed it into the plastic under the dashpad (still have no dashpad on) and just started driving. all is good. everything is working great!! allright! now comes the bass. i drive 30 mins to get home, no probs. go for a short drive at like 7 pm and while comming home. my Shift up light comes on. any guesses why? i drive an auto, just did wiring for HUD... and whatever else you read up there... oh yeah at one point it would only come on when i turned right, then off when i turned left again. the answer is there. you just gotta figure the puzzle out. i did. i felt stupid.

well i can see everyone wants to guess. dont all talk at once now... the prob was sunlight coming thru the back of the gauges because the bass knocked out the dummy plug and on an auto there is never a bulb even installed there.
so. HUD installed, wired, mounted. almost finished. just have to tweak how its sitting a little, and tear it open and re angle the mirror!! hahaha should be fun.
however, the 2nd gear start is proving to be quite the challenge to find this proverbial blue wire.... i think its a myth.

there should be a wire on the C100 connector that is blue on the outside of the firewall, that is not on the inside of the firewall... i am trying to find the info...
as for the check gauges light on the HUD: I used a small circuit board and several diodes and directly soldered a feed wire from the hot side of the circuit of the following bulbs: overheat bulb low coolant bulb low oil pressure bulb low voltage indicator bulb
I drilled a small hole (like 1/16th inch) in each of the circuits on the HOT side of the preceeding bulb and soldered a wire in the hole.
The four wires ran out the cluster to a small radio shack "bread board" circuit board where they each met a diode. On the opposite side of the diode the circuits merged and on single wire went from there straight to the HUD's "Check Gauges" light.
thus the function is that if any of the four indicators turns on... the voltage gets sent both the it's respective bulb and through the circuit board and on to the HUD's warning indicator without having voltage cross feed to light the incorrect bulb.

thats pretty complicated... lol im happy with it connected to the SES light. lol
now this C100 connector, it should be on the passenger side of the firewall, correct? if so, i have 3 green wires and thats as close to blue as ive got. is there a connection for it at the ECU?

but it makes sense how I did it... which is that if any of the lights come on that you need to immediately shut the engine off.... if brought right to your attention.
I've missed the low oil pressure indicator twice in the car... the second time it kicked on was when I had the HUD, so i immediately looked down and saw which light was on and turned the key off and brought the car to a controlled stop. i guess driving a 25% grade caused the oil to clear the pick-up for a moment....

lol no thanks... im ok, i understand what you did, its just too much for me to bother with, it all works now (except for the low fuel light) and the check gauges obviously. how many Miles on the ODO? (thats another prob, i need it to be in Ks.)

(thats another prob, i need it to be in Ks.) i can adjust odometers. if you splice the fuel wire into the purple wire for the guage before it enters the cluster, it will work, but not as well as it should. it may flicker on and off right at the switching point.... but it will still work.

hey thats cool. could there possibly be a wire for a low fuel light there? what? I just spliced it off of the feed that goes to the cluster. proper wiring for the HUD indicator is to use a feed from the cluster to tell the HUD to light, but the lumina cluster does not have that feed.
