I think that price is astronomical, I know you said it's a mess to change it out, but you could have saved sooooo much money doing it yourself, and it's not hard either.

This forum isn't Soviet Russia, if he wants to pay someone to do it that's fine. Us W-body owners are just use to fixing stuff ourselves, not everyone wants to.

lol i know, but at that point why even ask about cost? (We dont care) lol we do our shit ourselves. the cost is time, then soap and water with the occasional bloody knuckle.
this far out weighs paying my hard earned cash for work that i can do myself.

I had auto. air speacialist do the job for $710.00. Since its a common failure, just thought members would like to be aware of varying cost to have it proff. done.

I have tools to do it but I would have done same thing. If you like the car, want cold air, not some crappy black death job, you did ok. I have gauges and good pump and it sits most of the time. I like to do it myself but sometimes it's not an option.

I spent $700 to get home over Christmas to replace an alternator on my Av at a dealer. I wasn't happy but I got home. It's under warranty. I knew what was wrong but stuck on the road over a weekend.
