junkyard is cheaper... recharge is $45 kit from your local parts store...
it will be drained when you disconnect the current compressor.

I had auto. air speacialist do the job for $710.00. Since its a common failure, just thought members would like to be aware of varying cost to have it proff. done.

around here we do shit ourselves and dont complain about getting dirty, its the best easiest way to save money.
most of us like to recycle the older cars in the junk yards because of price and to give them life again.
want to save money? do it yourself or shop around in your local town, use a phone and see who has the best price. then when you go there and the price changes youre going to understand why its just better to spend that $700 on tools and diy
you dont need an oldmobile cutlass air conditioning specialist to put your compressor in.

In all honesty, for $710 I'd buy another car. I put a new A/C compressor in my Euro because the old one was bad, only to find out that one of the lines in the condenser was damaged when I went to recharge the system. It was at that point that I decided I didn't care if I had A/C anymore

Yep. I bought my lumina for $300. I could've bought another one, fixed the ac myself, and had cash left over.
