the big problem is.... your 93 - if an auto - has a 4T60-E and requires the ECM in the car.  the TGP computer will not run the trans,  nor can you just toss the TGP chip in.

you will need a custom PROM burned to run this

I think you'll need the wiring from that car or one like it.  Since your cutlass is a 93, like Pat said your trans is different than the trans that you're putting into it.  I think it would be easier to leave your engine in the cutlass now, and rebuild the turbo 3.1 while it's out of the car.  It would make the rebuild easier for you.  That way, when you rebuild the turbo 3.1, you can just pull the motor out of your cutlass, and swap it in.

you have 2 choices - get the earlier harness and a 4T60/440T4 OR find someone to make you a chip to work with the 4T60-E.

there are no 2 ways about it,  you can't just toss in the TGP chip and have it work with the electronic transmission.

i do not know if anyone has even made a chip for TGP code w/ 4T60-E controls.

Ok, I think that I am a little lost here, I am just trying to put a turbo mpfi 3.1 litre engine out of a 90 grand prix into my 93 cutlass supreme. I am really confused about all this talk with my transmission. Would it be best if I just put the turbo on my original engine that is in the cutlass, or swap the motors? If I swap the motors, will the wiring harnesses be the same from the non turbo to the turbo engine? I want to keep my original trans out of my cutlass cuz it is just rebuilt a little bit ago and the one out of the grand prix is junk. If I just swap over the turbo will I have troubles with dependablility of the cutlass engine or is it best to just put the grand prix in there, and also will my cutlass ecm run the grand prix turbo'd engine? I know and realize that I will probably need to have someone burn me a new prom to match and make the turbo engine run to maximum performance, but I just want to do this the fastest, easiest, and best way!!  ( if that is possible !! ) Thanks for your replies.

the problem lies in the computer.  you can not just slap a turbo on and not do computer work.

however,  the TGP program will not control your newer electronically controlled trans.  in 93 they went to solenoid controlled valve bodies for shifting instead of mechanical linkages like the TV cable.  so you can't just toss in the TGP chip - because your trans will not work.

in order to keep your transmission,  you must retain your original wiring harness.  you can bolt on the turbo and all the associated parts(including the injectors,  which are different).  then you must find some way to combine the turbo program with the 93's transmission controls.

I was thinking about doing this to my '92 3.1L Would I have the same problems with my tranny, or is it more like that out of the '90 GP?
