Hello all!

So I'm finally getting around to that 94 'vert I picked up a couple months ago. I know I could simply (ha!) install a new set of head and intake gaskets and let it be, but it's got a lot of miles. Hence why I'm tempted to take my neighbor up on an offer he made me today: a low-mile (just under 100K) '89 Cutlass coupe for $300. It's actually pretty clean, but his ex won't give up the title so it's doomed to be a parts car. I'm thinking its engine (and possibly also its tranny) might be happier under the hood of my 'vert.

I'm not too familiar with the earlier W-bodies like that one, so I don't know what exactly I might be getting myself into. Has anyone here ever attempted such a swap? If so, would you consider it relatively easy (as compared to dropping in a same-year, same-model engine)? Or would I be jumping down a bottomless pit of "this-don't-fit-with-that" and "if-I-change-this-then-I-gotta-change-that" type issues?

Because of the year lots of objections will arise. I'm sure the later 3.1, or better yet 3100 would be better choices topped off by anm LQ1

It will bolt in, but the computers are different. It is a nighmare of wiring to do. But I'm sure it could be done. It would be a lot of extra effort. I would get a 94 or 95 3100 from a grand prix or cutlass supreme or lumina.

That will bolt in and you won't have to mess with your wiring too much.

If you could get in touch with the ex, offer her $50 for the title. $50 in pocket beats a useless title in the drawer any day. $350 for a good, driveable coupe is a great price.
