Well this dealer down from me has a Maroon 3.1 Lumina Euro. Its got the usual power locks windows, bench seats, colum shifter. Red interior, stock rims, spoiler. But its in great overall condition, shiny paint, no body damage, tires are a bit worn, glass good, interior clean. But the engine knocks, and he wants like 300-350 for the whole car. 170k on it, sound like a bad deal? Is it even worth it you think? Im not sure if doing just a bottom end rebuild is a good idea or not....or just replacing the engine. Im looking into getting a 2.8/3.1 powered GM car. And am looking around as of now.

sounds like a problem car that will just give you headaches.  buy something that runs and drives.  i might pay $300 tops if it was in REALLY good condition, but only because i could swap the engine myself in a day or two and finding a good running  3.1 for $100-$200 would be easy.

i'd keep looking.

Stay away!

Aside from the engine it could require brakes, suspension stuff etc. which can add up fast.

You should be able to find a good running car for under $2000 safetied.
