As the title implies, this is how to modify your Cutlass Supreme or Grand Prix COUPE to use 4 HIGH BEAM MINIQUADS in replace of the stock 2 LOW BEAM 2 HIGH BEAM setup.

Difficulty: 2/10 (10 hardest)

This is actually a really easy swap that if done correctly, you will not need to cut or solder any wires at all and will take less than 5 minutes to do per side.

TOOLS NEEDED:

FLAT screwdriver
dental pick or jewlers flat screwdriver
TORX screwdriver (not sure of the size.  Mine has the size worn off).
2 - H4352 mini-quad high beams
2 - junkyard high beam connectors.

Here are some pics of my headlights when I started out.

low beams:

high beams:

These are the headlights that you need.  Select a brand that you know and trust:

This is the junkyard high beam connectors.  HIGH BEAM is BLACK, and LOW BEAM is GRAY:

Start by removing the BLACK PLASTIC cover over the headlight housings.  You do this by prying up on the CENTER of the retaining clips.  When the center is pulled up, the whole thing can be pulled out.

Here is the clip ready to be removed:

With the black cover off, you can now remove the headlight.  Do this by using the TORX screwdriver to remove the 2 screws that hold the light in (circled in RED):

Swing the bracket outward to remove it:

and the stock light will just fall out.  Unplug it, and throw it as far as you can and pray it smashed into little pieces (or set it aside incase the new lights don't work out and you have to reinstall it):

Next you will want to remove the BLUE retainer from the stock headlight connector.  You will need to do this 2 both of new high beam ones.  Do this to the new ones, but don't remove the ones on the car until you are ready to swap wires, that way you don't mix them up (I don't think it really matters, but just in case):

With the blue retainers out, you will use the dental pick to remove the wires:

Insert the dental pic into the connector (as shown).  There is a release tab located in there.  You have to push in the pick carefully, and gently pry so that the tip goes towards the wire you are removing.  This will undo the locking tab:

You can then pull the stock wire out from the backside of the connector:

The wire pulled out:

The new HIGH BEAM connector with the wires removed.

Use the same technique to swap the wires out ONE BY ONE.  Remove the tan wire from the GRAY connector, and swap it into the same location on the BLACK connector, then do the same for the BLACK wire.

After you swap out the 2 wires, and reinstall the blue retainer, you are ready to put everything back together.  Just plug in the light, set it into place, put the retaining bracket back in, and install the 2 TORX screws.

After you get the light in play, you will then want to TEST THE LIGHT.

If it lights up fine, then you can reinstall the black cover over the headlight assembly, and then do the other side.

Here are some side by side shots:

And here it is totally finished:

Isn't that TOO bright having highbeams as your low beams?  Don't you have people flashing their highbeams at you??

I had to adjust them this morning.  They were aimed a little too high.  In the morning, I will check them again and if I get flashed a lot, I might aim them down a little more.

The truth is, as many cars and truck in this area that have super bright lights, mine are still not as bright as them.  Eventually, I want to do the HID conversion to it, but for now, they seem to be just right.

that is easy to do.  You can get a quad beam headlight relay from any of the cars with miniquads, wire it in to your regal, and it will do that.  If you don't want to find a stock relay, they sell a module that you can wire in to do that for you.

The Cutlass Supreme gets the quad highbeams stock, but I have seen some without it.  My old 1995 didn't have it.

i figured it was easy, and i was just gonna do it with a relay myself somehow... but never thought too hard about it yet. i have other issues to worry about before i do that.

Sorry, I got pissed off at some users like retard there, and locked all my pics.  I don't really work on wbodies anymore.  My Lincoln has consumed my whole being.....

I will see about resetting the permissions on photobucket to get the pics back up for you.

i would also like to point out that the high beams were not a considerable deal brighter, but they did help, and after adjusting them slightly lower than normal I NEVER got flashed.

The person I sold my 1995 too Loves how they are and he has adjusted them up higher, but he says he never gets flashed.

Even with them higher, they are still not as bright as the HID's in my Lincoln, so I don't think flashing is a problem.  Even if they do, if you flash then with your other high's they think the lows are low.

high beams are usually just that, aimed higher. if you look at the bulbs for HID kits, especially ones like a 9008 or any other single bulb setup, its the same. the bulb doesnt get brighter, it just changes the angle the light is reflecting off of the inside of the lens...

i wonder if im "retard" hahaha

Not necessarily true. In some HID setups the projector moves to aim the beam higher, but most don't. In halogen setups you'll almost always see a higher-wattage bulb as the high-beam.

I'd bet on it lol

on the MC, 9005(65W) for high beams, 9006(55W) for low beams. or at least that's what it is supposed to have, i threw 9005 silverstar ultras in place of the low beams in late 2007.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Headlamp

now, highs put out a hell of a lot more usable light, the higher wattage helps, but it's the angle doing most of the work.
