I have some peeling about 6" x 4" on the windshield pillar?. It looks like galvanized metal under the black thats missing. Any ideas to dress that up or repair it? Id like to fix it. If the attachments worked id post a nice pic. But trying to get a pic from photo bucket up is going to have to wait. Its a common problem ive seen on other cars. Some one here must have a crafty solution! Thanks in advance.

And removing part is about the hardest piece of work...It's a major pain to take those off.

So it is a paint? Ive thought about painting it myself with rattlecan to hide it from afar or in the dark. A sharpie might improve it. Guess ill run it by a few bodyshops for a suggestion/ price. Thanks.

Best way is to take it off and have it powdercoated.

i agree with the powder coating, it will never come off if you take this road. you could spray paint it though for a quick fix.

Ok. Its DIY time. Will the pic attachments ever be fixed? Do we need a fund drive or something? Any way ill take pics. Im rattle canning it. Whatever i do will be easily corrected by a professional at a later date. Im going to sand down the blistering part of the paint into some of the good original black. I should alcohol prep the metal before priming right?.Can i use rubbing alcohol? Remember this is a low budget approach. Im off to sand and tape. Will check back later before any paint flies. Thanks Ben

i would sand everything down to metal, then paint prep. reprime it, sand the primer (or use self etching) maybe do 2 coats of primer no more than three coats though. then some paint. enough to make it black is fine. thick to the point where its about to run, but doesnt. try it on some test parts. then clear it. if you spray the clear thick too (ALMOST running) then it comes out REALLY smooth. but do a rough layer first. then lay it on thick. it shouldnt take more than two or three coats of clear (i can do ti one if i really need to) but if you dont spray it thick enough it gets too rough, and too thick and it runs. so right near running is best! lol
TEST try it first to get used to spraying it thick enough. then test again. lol

Well i couldnt wait. I have a second coat of primer on now. Im using Rustoleum automotive primer. Rattlecan! Then rustoleum gloss black. I guess ill wait til the am and sand the primer lightly! It looks ok now. I hope it blends in ok. Ive seen the gloss black sprayed on a test piece at the hardware store. It seems like it will work fine. Ive taken pics of each coat . I didnt do the whole window frame. Just a corner. sanded to bare metal and then a little fine into the paint. Taped/papered ,cleaned a few times with denatured alcohol. pulled out all the sheets i had and covered the car. Do you think ill need a clear coat? Does it come in a rattlecan???

use 400p or 600p nothing worse when sanding it, sand till it all is the same uniform color, then paint.

I used 600 and should of sanded longer. It looks as good as I hoped. The wife had to take a doubletake to find it. Im happy and it was less than $20. It looks 18years old already!
