When you talk about backspacing an offset, most people's eyes glaze over. I've been looking for a set of summer wheels/tires for my car, and asking people for the backspacing an offset is like pulling teeth. So I'm looking for what other wheels have the same backspacing and offset as the W's. I found a set of cavi wheels and tires for super cheap, but I can't get the backspacing and offset from the guy selling them.

generally, you are going to want OLDER wheels.
for example, the STOCK Cutlass Supreme wheels tha I have on my gold car are 16x6-1/2 in., 5x115mm lug pattern. 42mm offset.
I had bought a set of Grand Prix wheels from a 1998 GEN 2 and they did NOT fit on my gold car. They hit the calipers, and I would need to use wheel spacers. I have heard that the offset on them was in either the high 20's or lower 30's.
I don't know if any of that helps.
When I look for different wheels, I do searches for usually the GEN1 w-body cars. I know those will fit. Usually, anyways.

arent cavis a 4 bolt pattern ? Surprisingly no. lol Cavi's share their bolt pattern with A bodies, 98 and older N bodies, Fiero's, probably more too. The bolt pattern on those are all 5x100. So they won't bolt up to a W-body. |

i heard spacers and shit are needed, but im no expert... i want to learn more about this too.... please help cuz imma need to know. how hard is it to swap to newer hubs/rotors and all that fun stuff?

2gen wheels have a offset of +52...... You are 100% right, I have a set and pulled the same stupid stunt as Taylor. It was depressing, and the offset is +52mm confirmed. Lower equals further out from the car. Zero offset is exactly in the middle of the tire tread, is where the rim starts, and the closer to the outside is positive offset and closer to the inside is negative offset. I think what Chris is discussing when he states; "backspacing" is that a small offset doesn't necessarily clear the damn calipers. The Grand Prix B4U is +25mm, and while the lip makes for being far away from the outside of the wheel but not the spacing required on the back end. If you want my advise, and what I'm looking into G35/350Z rims, I've put my hand in there, appear to be perfect! I'm thinking of trying to grab a used set. 114.3 X 5 bolt pattern as well. They are RWD. |

Hey would 96 Cutlass steel wheels fit on a 03 Grand Prix? I have seen many newer w body cars with older w body snow rims on them. Im going to night with my grandma to see about them and id really like to know! Thanks!

to answer the OP's question, Mustang wheels are 5x114.3 and will fit and come in similar backspaces, but sometimes need a hubcentric ring. I think it's the SN95 part 2 mustangs that fit best Hey would 96 Cutlass steel wheels fit on a 03 Grand Prix? I have seen many newer w body cars with older w body snow rims on them. Im going to night with my grandma to see about them and id really like to know! Thanks! yes they would. They will stick out farther, which won't be a prob especially with the narrower steel wheels |

Heres one I recently found out about My friend has a 01' Nissan Maxima and he needed to get a new tire on his rim. Non of the wheels he had fit so we tried a rim from a Euro Lumina and it bolted up perfectly. Something to look into The rims look like these, they are 17"s. Some have the big center cap that hides the lug nuts and others don't. The ones that are on his car has the big center cap thing.  EDIT: We drove around for about 20 miles to get to the tire shop with the Lumina rim on the car. |

The backspacing was correct?
It's freaking impossible to find steelies for these cars around where I live. I've been trying to get some for months now, currently my car is sitting on 4 donut spares because i can't find any freaking steelies.
