How would one go about recalibrating the speedo on a 1st gen?

I'm going to be swapping the summer tires that I have on the Euro onto the '92, and the winter tires onto the Euro. There's an 8.41% difference between them, making the speedo in my '92 9.172% too slow and the speedo in the Euro 9.172% too fast.

Suggestions? (Other than not swapping the tires or getting new tires or any dumbass reply to that effect)

You will have to have seperate PROMs burned with the proper calibration for each tire setup and change them outta the PCM depending on what tires are on them..

There isnt any other way really. You might be able to find a black box that can change the VSS signal, but even that route can be scetchy at best

Yeah, unfortunately they aren't like the S10s...

I wonder if there's a way to add a DRAC module to a w body...

Just thought of something... How does the VSS pickup the speed from the transmission? Is it gear driven by any chance?

Now that the base tires are on the Euro, and the Euro tires are on the RS - I don't have a single vehicle with a speedo that tells the truth. The RS's speedo is 2.5% too slow, and the Euro's speedo is 3.394% too fast.

Euro has the 3 speed and the RS has the 4.

Are the PROM's actually removable? There's a PROM burner at work that I could use if I knew what the hell I was doing...

hmmm.

does this still matter?

if both cars are 92(or earlier), then the trannys are not E controlled.. so... It probably does not matter, meaning you could swap proms.

even better... upgrade the 92 to have a prom from a 215/60R16 equipped 92 car...  and use the larger better tires on it in the future.

my 91 has a 4T60-E in it.   also my car has 225 60R16s and is still a 91. i think anything with a 3.4DOHC thats auto has an electronically controlled transmission
-but im no pro at this, my 91 regal also had 225 60r16s on it too.

just so you know the Prom is removable, very easliy, just pop that cover and unlock the 2 clips holding the prom in and pull it out.

if it was a 93 (i think) or newer, with a flashable ecm (3100's etc.) it can be power prgrammered or reflashed with an adjustment in tire size ( i do it at work)
