Yea I Used a palm sander to smooth out alot of my wheels curb rash, then wet sanded from 400 up to 2000 with rubbing compound and they shined up real well, i then sand blasted them and powdercoated them myself, they turned out pretty damn good if you ask me.
I'm too lazy and unknowledgable to do all of this stuff. I really wish I could have just traded Mr. SelfDestruct rims and paid him good money when he was attempting to sell his car.
Couple of questions:
1.) With a Turbo Grand Prix, is there any notion to keep the car as "original" as possible? Meaning not messing around with the rims or do the rims become a seperate entity.
2.) Do rims take priority over a spoiler on a Grand Prix Turbo? I gotta be honest I hate the naked back and I haven't seen a single pic of a Turbo with a spoiler (it wasn't an option to my knowledge). Does the spoiler ruin the authenticity of the car?
3.) Are Turbo rims any different than GTP gold ones? I know the Turbos came with 245's and the GTP's only 225 (to my knowledge) but are the rims actually any wider to accomodate?
4.) . . . and most important. Sally has a 1990 Grand Prix Turbo, Bill has a 1992 GTP, and I have my GTP Wannabe from 1995, we all leave from Charlotte at the same time on the way to Greensboro, who makes it there first. Keeping in mind the following constraints:
-Sally's Turbo has an intercooler that will fail 20 minutes into the race and Bill has filled the gas tank which started off 3/4 full with 2KG of sugar.
-Bill's GTP has blown front and rear head gaskets.
-My GTP Wannabe is towing a pair of 28' U-Haul trucks, they have both have drivers who are operating the brakes.
(This scenario actually happened).
