Gang,

I've heard there's quite litterally nothing that's a perfect fit for a B4U with a +25 offset.  You can put some rims designed for 80's 300Z's but they are 5X4.5 and not 5X115, I have an awesome set of polished 2002 torque stars that are polished like new, but the brake caliper went right through the stinkin' things!

Of course I'm wondering how much investment went into the look that AWeb80 has amongst others here.  My edges are BAD though, I've gotten a quote to refinish, I want to know what you've paid.

Most members strip the finish and polish the rims themselves (Or paint them if the black look is what your going for). I know Adam has  A LOT into his car, and he recently had his rims powder coated.

You should be able to polish up your lip without much issue, just a lot of elbow grease and determination. cool

UGH, i don't even want to start adding it up...LOL

The lip on mine were fairly good...jus the edge was curb trashed on them.

I got a rear hub from a J/y and welded legs on to it...then set the rims on the hub, and then used the lugs to hold the rim  on

....then I used a angle grinder w/ a ~200 grit pad to get through the stock clearcoat

....from there....ALOT of wetsanding.....80 grit, 100, 200, 400, 800, 1000, 2000, 2500......~5 hrs per rim...(i'm a perfectionist when it comes to my car)

Thanks that helps a lot AWeb80,

Last night I was in London (Ontario) and met up with: MrSelfDestruct, he gave me your sending address and assured it would be okay with you.

My rims should be arriving in the mail pretty soon, they are shipped COD and the guy told me most likely Monday morning, you'll need to be home to sign for them.

Anyhow, get them all shined up and painted and if you don't mind try and get them back to me ASAP, my car's on blocks in the garage right now, so I have to take the bus and then let me know how much I owe you.  Okay?

Thanks,

Breakdown.

Yea I Used a palm sander to smooth out alot of my wheels curb rash, then wet sanded from 400 up to 2000 with rubbing compound and they shined up real well, i then sand blasted them and powdercoated them myself, they turned out pretty damn good if you ask me

I'm too lazy and unknowledgable to do all of this stuff.  I really wish I could have just traded Mr. SelfDestruct rims and paid him good money when he was attempting to sell his car.

Couple of questions:

1.) With a Turbo Grand Prix, is there any notion to keep the car as "original" as possible?  Meaning not messing around with the rims or do the rims become a seperate entity.

2.) Do rims take priority over a spoiler on a Grand Prix Turbo?  I gotta be honest I hate the naked back and I haven't seen a single pic of a Turbo with a spoiler (it wasn't an option to my knowledge).  Does the spoiler ruin the authenticity of the car?

3.) Are Turbo rims any different than GTP gold ones?  I know the Turbos came with 245's and the GTP's only 225 (to my knowledge) but are the rims actually any wider to accomodate?

4.) . . . and most important.  Sally has a 1990 Grand Prix Turbo, Bill has a 1992 GTP, and I have my GTP Wannabe from 1995, we all leave from Charlotte at the same time on the way to Greensboro, who makes it there first.  Keeping in mind the following constraints:

-Sally's Turbo has an intercooler that will fail 20 minutes into the race and Bill has filled the gas tank which started off 3/4 full with 2KG of sugar.

-Bill's GTP has blown front and rear head gaskets.

-My GTP Wannabe is towing a pair of 28' U-Haul trucks, they have both have drivers who are operating the brakes.

(This scenario actually happened).

haha

all of those crosslace wheels are 8" wide wth 25mm offset, so they aren't really TGP specific.  if i were going to add a spoiler to a TGP, i would probably find a different trunklid and put the spoiler on that one, then store the TGP trunklid.  the only reason is because of the stickers etc on the inside of the trunklid i guess.
