Alright so I talked with one of the older mechanics and he looked on teh computer and gave me prices for labor:

Front strut bearings:  3.6hr labor (both)
Front struts:  1.5hr

He said he'd do the struts for 1hr (4.6hrs total) and the employee rate is $60/hr... so that's like $280.   Reasonable price?

Also- are AC Delco FRONT struts crap, or is it just the rears?

sounds close.  the struts themselves are simple with the proper tool.  but the top mount/bearing i think requires removal of the knuckle, compressing the spring, etc so that would definitely take a few hours.
