do i need strut top washers (pogo mod) if i order the KYB AGX adjustable struts and Eibach lowering springs?

also, what is the best method of reducing engine vibration on lowered cars?  shorter dogbones?  shim the engine/trans mounts?  i might be ordering some stuff on Tuesday -

- Eibach lowering springs
- KYB AGX adjustable struts
- front and rear strut mounts
- shortened dogbones (?)
- strut top washers (?)

i probably can't afford anything else at this time....hell that's going to cost about $1000 right there!  i was thinking i'd probably order everything from the wbodystore.com and then get the springs off ebay.

What I've heard on NAIOA, they sell an offset dogbone bushing that pulls the engine closer to the core support.  This, however, causes strain to the lower motor mounts.  I'm sure if you did some poking around the forum over there you'd find what you're looking for...

If you want less vibration... get the stock rubber mounts. Other than that, youll be putting stress like said.

the vibration is actually caused because when you lower the car, the driveshaft geometry is off.  so far i've heard of offset mounts, shorter dogbones (same thing or what??) and shimming the engine and trans mounts (to raise the engine/trans back up) to help fix the axle geometry.

i'm probably going to be ordering alot of stuff tomarrow but i'm still not sure about the springs.  i want it low, but i'm also a little worried about getting a spring that is too stiff and uncomfortable for daily driving.  i've heard the SSC springs are nice for a daily driver, but they don't lower the car as much as Eibach or Intrax springs and i definately want the car noticeably lower.  i might just go with ST springs since they are quite a bit cheaper.  anyway i'm probably going to order the lowering springs, KYB AGX adjustable struts, and KYB strut mounts tomarrow.  the struts on my GS are completely shot....it's horrible to drive right now.

fuck.  i've been reading and reading on clubgp and regalgs.org about lowering springs and i cannot decide what would be the best.  it seems that for the amount of drop i want the only choice is either Intrax or Eibach.  but alot of people say they are really harsh and not good for a daily driver BUT it seems like most of those people are using GR2s with them which i am definately not going to be using.  then there is SSC and Vogtland springs, alot of people seem to like the ride quality but they just don't seem like they lower the car enough from the pics i have seen.  i did see one regal with B+G springs and it sagged really bad in the back so i'm definately not getting those.  the other choices include ST, Springtech, Sprint and Cannuck Motorsports springs which apparantly are all really the same exact spring but i haven't heard much about them at all.  i've seen pics of cars with those springs and i definately liked what i saw in terms of ride height, but i didn't really see any opinions on ride quality.  i'm really not too concerned about price since there isn't that much difference but i don't want to get something i'm going to regret.  on top of that, alot of people's opinions of springs seem to contradict what other people say about the same spring.  crap.

i am thinking of just trying the Intrax springs since they seem like they will definately lower the car enough, and they are cheaper than Eibachs.  hopefully with the AGX struts they will be ok....

well i ordered the KYB AGX adjustable struts and KYB strut mounts for my GS (all four corners).  came to $606.92 and that is with free shipping!  i got the set of AGX struts for about $408 (wayyyy cheaper than ZZP, Wbodystore.com or anywhere else) and the KYB strut mounts cost me just under $200.  i got them all from performancepeddler.com

i would have bought springs today too but i gotta save enough to pay for an MSHA class and some boots.

after seeing this Regal with SSC lowering springs i think i am sold on them -

^ that is Regalmania's car over on regalgs.org.  that is exactly the stance i'm looking for and i don't think the ride quality would be as harsh as Eibach or Intrax springs.  it seems like the SSC springs are the all around best choice and they are pretty cheap too ($190 from ZZP).  i can't wait till i have all of this installed!

yeah i've never noticed any vibration issues with my lowered Cutlass, but apparantly it can be an issue with 2nd GEN W-bodies.

Well guess I'd better order some SSC springs so we can have a mod day haha.  Still got those damn struts and mounts to put on.

SSC springs are on the way biggrin  i also got the ZZP offset poly dogbone bushings to help correct the driveshaft geometry after the car is lowered.  the KYB AGX struts and strut mounts should finally get here this Wednesday according to the UPS tracking #.

i'm finally getting this stuff installed oops  so far it's going easy but i am definately ordering the anti-pogo retainers.  the stock retainers are so freakin deep that it's almost impossible to remove or replace the strut nut.  the anti-pogo retainers are much more shallow and from the looks of it would be much easier to fit a wrench onto the strut shaft nut.  for this reason alone i would recommend buying them, whether you get lowering springs or not.  it will make replacing struts alot easier.

fwiw:  the factory strut (at least i think they were the factory struts) used a 21mm strut shaft nut and a T-45 torx bit to hold the strut shaft in place while tightening/loosening the strut nut.  i had to go buy a 21mm wrench (only size i didn't have, go figure) BUT that didn't work because i just couldn't get the wrench in there enough to turn the nut.  i ended up using a vice-grip and even that just barely worked.  the KYB AGX strut uses a 19mm strut shaft nut and you hold the strut shaft in place with a 10mm end wrench on the flats at the end of the strut shaft.

anyway, hope to post pics soon!
