I am at 48,000 miles and when braking above 50 the pedal and wheel shake, I assume the rotors are warped.  Question is these are original pads, any idea how much it would cost to get new rotors (not turned) I want good ones, and new good pads.

Thoughts

Also has anyone done the lifetime brakes at Monro or know anything about it, seems for 99.99 per axle thats a good deal as I plan to keep the car for a long time

The stock rotors are junk.  The rears on my 04 Impy were completely pitted and grooved at 56k miles, so I ended up replacing all 4 of them at that time.  I bought Raybestos PG Plus rotors, and brake pads front and rear and spent ~ $325-ish.

I was told that the stock steelies cause the rotors to warp.  My new rotors started warping after 2 years, but I took them off and brought them to O'Reilly's.  They were able to turn them, so they weren't warped too badly.

I now have 2 sets of wheels.  I run the steelies in the winter, and have a set of Eagle 192 5-spokers that I run in the warm months.  I haven't had an issue with the rotors warping since then...

Raybestos PG Plus rotors are pretty good, but I really recommend Raybestos Advanced Technology Pads and Rotors. They are just about the best you can get. Ask them... I know at my store we don't keep a bunch of them in stock but will gladly special order them. They ARE pretty expensive, but if quality is what you want, then you gotta pay the price. Impalas are one of the few vehicles they make the AT pads and rotors for. Check your local auto part store... we actually do keep sets for the Impala in stock cuz the local police use them.
