I had to replace the rear rotors on my Impala at 54k, due to the stock rotors becoming severely pitted and grooved. I came to find out that GM uses rotors made with low-quality, porus material to keep the cost down (and not just on the W-Bodies!) Here are the pics of my torched 54,000 mile original rotors: I replaced all 4 rotors with Raybestos PG Plus rotors, and hopefully won't have to go through this any time soon!

Discs on all fours. The front rotors are quite a bit heftier than the 1G's, actually.
I don't know if you could tell from the pic, but the inside of the rear rotor serves as a drum for the parking brake. The separate parking brake makes for easier pad changes, although it's a bitch to get the rotors off because you have to crawl under the car and loosen the parking brake cable...

yeah they are slightly. But i looked at the brakes and they look like they could be the original ones. Not positive, but 50k miles on brakes?

I thought the same thing. Actually, my front rotors and pads still had plenty of life left in 'em. It was just the rears that were FUBAR'd. I went ahead and replaced all rotors and pads at the same time even though the fronts were more than adequate...
