Ok, I was cruising eBay to find an oem tape deck cuz mine is dead.  Radio works but, tape doesn't.  I want to hook my smart phone up to listen to mp3's and found something.

There are factory head units that people are putting 3.5 jacks into and I want to do that to mine to bypass the cassette.  They say they're soldered to the amp.

Anyone know what to do??

the best options with easy to no install time would be the tape deck insert, or use one of those cigarette lighter adapters with an FM transmitter in it.

OH or an antenna line interrupter, but that costs like as much as an aftermarket deck with an AUX input.

He said his tape deck doesn't work. And FM Modulators SUCK.

i didnt read the first part, and yes i agree with the second part....

in all honesty, why not swap in an aftermarket one? all the needed wiring and mounting can be found in the junkyard for next to free and kijiji is full of wonderfull deals on aftermarket decks with prices ranging from $10 - $1000.

tape deck dont work? replace it.

I replaced my OEM stereo with another OEM stereo from my parts car because the tape deck didn't work and I couldn't stand my FM Modulator.

aftermarket, with a dedicated (or more than one) line for aux stuff like iPod, Satalite, CD changers (for queers who dont know what mp3s are) or various other audio or video options... depending on your deck.

already have an aftermarket in the dash.  all it has is a spot in the back specifically for iPod and a USB port for flash drives.

Don't really feel like shelling out for another aftermarket if it's only gonna take a few dollars and some time to mod my oem deck.  Plus I like the sound and signal pick up of my oem.

My near $300 JVC I got for dirt from BBuy can barely pick up any radio staions, I always have to keep track of my flash drive, and it has a cd player in which I never use unless my wife has a cd she wants to play while we drive.

I have Windows Mobile on my phone and can play my favorite Florida stations, as well as a few other states that I listen to, over the net.  That's why I want to do this.  I forgot just how shitty the tape adap. really is  smile

If you have aftermarket already to trade off shouldn't cost much to anything
