Say what you want about the 3100. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I'd take my 3100 any day over the 3.4 DOHC. (what I really want is a supercharged 3800 though... )

but then a gain they never should have used a 3400 in an fbody. an X motor 3.4 would have been a better chiooce. all the bitchin about workin on them is solved (alt replacment, plug changes, tbelt service) and its a sportyier motor in line with the fbodys character. next 3.4 tdc i come across is going in a 4gen.
and my 92 w body had a piston slap at 20k, despite a factory rebuilt, and a reassy by me to double check tolerances

dont mistake piston slap for lifter tick, lots of rebuild places love to slap the old lifters and valvetrain on new bottom ends. is that 3.4 in the Camaros a pushrod? obviously alot different than the 3.4 DOHC in W cars? Im sure there are much WORSE cars to work on than the 3.4 dohc cars, most dodge vehicles, they just try as hard as they can to get the belts as close to the fender well so you cant even remove bolts from the side of engine

Umm, I'm pretty sure the 3.4 they used in the 93-95 F-Bodies was a direct descendant of the RWD 2.8 they used in the S-10's and 3G F-Bodies, not a 3400. I heard that you can swap a 3400 top-end onto those motors, though...

You're 100% correct. I've been looking for a 3.4L for my S10 for three years now and have yet to find one locally.

You need to come down here then Chris. I know of 3 with less than 100K on them for $250 each.

Man, that would be nice. I'm buying my friend's truck with a 4.3 in it when I have the extra cash, that's going to be a complete drivetrain and wiring harness swap. Going to take both trucks down to the frame to do it - I can't wait (sarcasm)
